The Giants finally have a quarterback on their roster as Tommy Devito is expected to sign his ERFA tender.
After going quarterback-less for a number of weeks now, the Giants will finally ink a quarterback ahead of next week’s start to free agency. Per Art Stapleton of northjersey.com, quarterback Tommy Devito is expected to sign his exclusive rights free agent tender at some point over the coming weekend.
According to Stapleton, general manager Joe Schoen had made it known as of late that he believed the Giants would have at least one quarterback signed before the start of free agency and this move would obviously make his previous assertion correct.
I’m told Tommy DeVito will sign his exclusive rights free agent (ERFA) tender at some point this weekend, per sources.
So the Giants will officially have one quarterback on their roster as Joe Schoen has suggested when the NFL negotiating period of free agency begins Monday.— Art Stapleton (@art_stapleton) March 6, 2025
Devito is a native of Cedar Grove, New Jersey and is entering his third season with the Giants. He has appeared in 12 games with eight starts over the past two seasons with six of them coming during his rookie season in 2022. In those eight starts, Devito has a 3-5 record to go with a completion percentage of 65.3 percent, 1,358 passing yards, eight pass touchdowns, and three interceptions. Devito has also shown a little wiggle on the ground with 227 career rushing yards and a touchdown on 44 carries.
The Giants still need more quarterbacks to fill out the room and the expectation is that New York could be fairly active in both free agency and the draft in order to find their starter for the 2025 season. Whether it is a veteran signing or a rookie, you can expect to see a fresh face throwing passes to Malik Nabers and Co. this coming season.
