Other Giant observations
2025 NFL free agency: Projecting offers, deals on seven stars | ESPN.com
D.J. Reed, CB Giants’ offer: Four years, $72 million ($40 million guaranteed). The Giants need a No. 1 cornerback in the worst way, and Reed is the best option on the free agent market. He can cover and tackle, and he has already proved capable of handling the New York market. Reed might not be your prototypical shutdown corner, but the Giants will pay him as such to move across town. Last season, they gave up 7.7 yards per pass attempt (29th) and had only five interceptions (31st).
The Packers were a lot of fun to think about here. But unless they get their offer a little closer to New York’s — it’s a $3 million difference per year — I can’t justify turning down what the Giants are giving. Plus, Reed gets to stay in New Jersey.

How might Giants address their biggest non-QB position need? | nj.com
The top free agent cornerbacks, according to PFF, are D.J. Reed of the Jets, Charvarius Ward of the 49ers, Rasul Douglas of the Bills and Byron Murphy Jr. of the Vikings. The Giants are apparently staking their claims early as they’ve already “poked around” Murphy Jr
The Giants, who have about $46.918 million in cap space to work with, have no excuse not to find a cornerback upgrade in free agency. The plan is simple: Find a veteran No. 1 for Banks to learn under, then flip flop them if he fast tracks his development. If he doesn’t, at least you can say you tried.

Russell Wilson is clearly still a functional play-action passer, but without the elusiveness of his youth, it’s hard to see anyone betting on him as more than a one-year rental, and even then, he’ll likely need to compete for the job. Prediction: Signs one-year, $20 million deal with New York Giants

3. New York Giants: Abdul Carter, Edge, Penn State. “You can never have enough rushers,” the exec projecting Carter to the Giants said. “Ask Philly.” Some execs thought Hunter would be the choice here. All the execs thought the Giants might be best off selecting an offensive lineman, but there were doubts regarding whether any of the tackle prospects merited selection this early, with Carter and Hunter still available.

Cam Ward is the opposite of Daniel Jones in that he has a good feel in the pocket and can be aggressive throwing downfield when under pressure. Ward had the second-highest rate of throws to the middle of the field and the second-highest explosive pass rate in this draft class, according to TruMedia. Those are two elements that have been missing from the Giants’ passing game.
If the Giants were to make this move, doing so before free agency would help to know the team could just bring in a potential bridge for the start of the year, such as Marcus Mariota.

Titans, Giants have identical odds to make first pick | Pro Football Talk
DraftKings has the Giants as both the co-favorite to make the first overall pick and the favorite to sign Aaron Rodgers.
The Titans and Giants have odds of -105 to make the first pick. For the Giants to do it, they’d have to trade up by two spots. And they’d presumably pick quarterback Cam Ward, given their needs at the position. The Giants are also -150 favorites to sign Rodgers. The Steelers are next at +275, followed by the Raiders and Titans at +450 each.

Schoen has promised to leave no stone unturned in that pursuit and has even been offered assistance from retired Giants legend Eli Manning. It’s unclear if Schoen ever took Manning up on that offer, but at least one former staffer who was involved in the search to replace the two-time Super Bowl champion hopes the GM hasn’t.
“Eli should have no bearing whatsoever on their next quarterback decision,” said the anonymous ex-staffer. “If they are trying to do that, they’ve already messed it up. You have to evolve, not hold onto the past.”
