The Rams released cornerback Tre’Vius Tomlinson, LaDainian’s nephew, only 2 years into his career
While there is a lot of breaking news in the NFL this week, most teams aren’t releasing cheap, cost-controlled young players who would make sense to keep under most circumstances. Apparently Tre’Vius Tomlinson isn’t like most situations though because the L.A. Rams released the cornerback on Wednesday, just two years after they drafted him.
Though Tomlinson was only a sixth round pick, the connection to uncle LaDainian and the idea that he could be a day three steal brought a lot of attention his way. Unfortunately, that attention didn’t materialize into production on the field and Tomlinson has become expendable early in his career.
Rams are releasing former Jim Thorpe award winner, CB Trevius Tomlinson, who now will go on waivers.
His agent Kevin Conner said it was “a mutual decision to give Tre a fresh start. We would like thank Les Snead and Sean McVay for working collaboratively with us to make this…

The Rams couldn’t even manage to find a trade partner for Tomlinson, but at least his agent was able to convince Adam Schefter to spin this into a positive by calling it a “mutual decision”.
Players don’t get released after two seasons in the NFL unless it was the team’s decision.
Tomlinson didn’t appear in any games in 2024.
