The Rams finally part ways with Jackson, who got paid $28 million for four games
The Los Angeles Rams found a team willing to take Jonah Jackson’s contract off of their hands, as they are sending the offensive lineman to the Chicago Bears in exchange for a sixth round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, according to ESPN.
The trade only saves $3.33 million in 2025 cap space for the Rams, but does alleviate the $17.5 million in cash that Jackson is due this year, presuming that L.A. doesn’t have to handle any of that.
The trade still can’t be processed until the first day of the league year, which is March 12th, or next Wednesday. Jackson’s $8.5 million signing bonus is due March 15th.

Signing Jackson to a three-year contract worth $17 million per year proved to be one of Les Snead’s biggest free agent busts of all-time. The former Detroit Lion was set to play guard, then the team moved him to center when that didn’t work out, then he was just outright benched. Jackson ended up making just 4 starts with the Rams.
That means Jackson was paid an $8 million base salary, a $4.25 million roster bonus, and a $16 million signing bonus for four games. That’s about $28 million for four games and a sixth round pick.
The Rams now move on with Steve Avila and Kevin Dotson at guard, potentially Beaux Limmer at center if no other options are sought. Jackson goes back to the NFC North, where he will play in front of Caleb Williams. If he wins a job.
