Giants NFL Combine Notes: Inside Big Blue’s QB options in draft, free agency after Matthew Stafford miss | SNY.tv
The return compensation won’t be egregious…an exchange of first-round picks and two threes is likely enough to get it done, according to one general manager (unaffiliated with the Titans and Giants). The Giants might need to part with a second- and third-round pick if Tennessee can create a bidding war.
SNY talked to scouts, general managers, executives, head coaches, assistant coaches and agents at the NFL Combine. Not one had Sanders as a better quarterback prospect than Ward.
Schrags: A key Sanders intangible is toughness
Note from a conversation with an NFL front office member…
“1 thing that’s not being discussed enough is Sanders’ toughness. Very few other QBs in college could have survived getting pressured and hit as much as he did. But he always got up. And always made the big play.”

2025 NFL Mock Draft: Latest Predictions After This Year’s Combine | The 33rd Team
TRADE: New York Giants send 1.03, 2.34, and 2026 2nd to Titans for 1.01
Selection: Cam Ward, QB, Miami (FL). If the Giants, with the jobs of leadership on the line, are going to get aggressive for an answer, they may as well take the Titans up on their public posturing of potentially trading out of No. 1 overall. The value of the deal will be the big sticking point, but if the price is, hypothetically, a swap of picks No. 1 & 3 with New York also sending No. 34 and a 2026 Day 2 pick to the Titans, it’d be a price well worth paying to secure the top quarterback in the class, Cam Ward.
Giants’ last hope? Three QB prospects not named Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders who could save Joe Schoen | nj.com
Tyler Shough, a 6-4, 224-pound QB, from Louisville. Draft pundits are hyped about Shough because he was phenomenal in first season as a full-time starter this past season and has a ton of NFL traits, including a big arm. In 2024, Shough racked up 3,195 passing yards for 23 touchdowns and only threw six interceptions.
Shough might be available in the third or fourth round because he’s already 25 years old and suffered three serious injuries during his college career: two broken collarbones in consecutive years (2021-2022) and a broken fibula in 2023.

Takeaways: Quinn Ewers Is Counting on His Resilience to Prove He’s NFL Ready | SI.com
Why [are the Giants attractive to Aaron Rodgers]? Start with what’s on hand. Andrew Thomas should be full-go at the start of training camp, and the Giants will likely add a guard and maybe a swing tackle to supplement what was a really banged up line last year. They also have Malik Nabers, the third pick (which could be Travis Hunter), and could bring in Davante Adams, which would be part of the Rodgers allure. And then on defense, there’s the foundation of something pretty good with Dexter Lawrence, Brian Burns and Kayvon Thibodeaux along the front.
Maybe that means the answer is Rodgers and a trade up for Cam Ward. Maybe it’s Rodgers and then Jaxson Dart in the second round. Maybe it’s another vet and Ward. Regardless, the Giants aren’t planning to be passive at quarterback this time around.
2025 NFL combine: One thing we learned about every NFC team in Indianapolis | CBSSports.com
New York Giants: They really, really want a quarterback. We know the Giants tried to get in on the Matthew Stafford sweepstakes. There are already rumors that they could be interested in someone like Aaron Rodgers or Sam Darnold. And recently, reports have indicated that they are perhaps the most interested team in moving up to the No. 1 overall pick to land their choice of Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders.
Aaron Rodgers to the Giants? Why it could work and why it could be a big mistake | The Athletic
Rosenblatt: Well, Rodgers would be a significant upgrade over what they had last season, certainly. Rodgers was probably bad-to-terrible in a little more than half the Jets’ games, average for a handful and good-to-great for the others. It was a mixed bag, but there were still flashes of the old Rodgers in there, even if they didn’t show up as frequently. The main reason for optimism would be that by the end of the season, Rodgers was at his healthiest, whereas in the middle of the season, he was refusing scans on some of his injuries (including a bad hamstring) because he didn’t want the Jets to sit him. He’s never going to be the same mobile, improvising magician he once was, but he can be a perfectly capable starting quarterback … if you’re willing to overlook all the drama that accompanies him.

New York Giants WR Malik Nabers: Weapon. The 21-year-old went over 1,200 yards in a garbage offense as a rookie in 2024. With the right quarterback, the sky’s the limit going forward.
