Random Ramsdom: Could L.A. add Zack Baun?

Random Ramsdom: Could L.A. add Zack Baun?

Los Angeles Rams News and Links for 2/21/25

Could the Los Angeles Rams add Zack Baun if he is not re-signed by the Philadelphia Eagles? It’s an easy question to ask, so figured we’d ask it! Baun had an amazing season and was perhaps as good of a signing for the Eagles as Saquan Barkley. I know that might sound crazy, but seriously Baun had an incredible season for his value, and in general.

Baun may be able to leverage that incredible season into a big contract. Should the Rams be one of the teams to cough up the dough for him? I am not sure, but I know I’d rather hear from you!

Please comment on whatever you want, thanks for checking out Turf Show Times and have a great Friday!

The Los Angeles Rams have a clear need at the linebacker position. Luckily, they have a few options to help fill the void.

“Rolfe noted that although the Rams will have a massive hole at linebacker that they must fill this offseason, Los Angeles has more than a few legitimate options to help fill that void. However, one potential option fits the Rams’ needs better than others. Rolfe predicts Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Zack Baun could be an option for the Rams.

“If Zack Baun hits the open market this offseason, there are a number of potential suitors. The intriguing thing will be how people balance his amazing year with the Eagles against the fact that it is his only year of starter production. Just based on pure production, Baun is the best linebacker available, but there are more proven commodities,” Rolfe said.”

Rams WR Lands Surprising Contract Projection (si.com)

“Robinson in particular is interesting, as he played a major role for the Rams down the stretch and is coming off of the most productive campaign of his NFL career.

However, ESPN’s Bill Barnwell does not foresee Robinson earning a very substantial contract in free agency and is projecting him to land a very affordable short-term deal.

“If the Rams let Kupp leave, they could justify bringing back Robinson on a one-year deal in the same $4 million range he earned a year ago, although it’s fair to suggest they likely could upgrade on the 30-year-old if they tried,” Barnwell wrote.”

Rams Insider Speculates on Price as Matthew Stafford Trade Favorite Emerges (heavy.com)

“However, The Athletic’s Jourdan Rodrigue and Dan Duggan opined that the No. 34 pick – also owned by the Giants – could be a more realistic return.

“In a deal for Stafford, acquiring a pick high enough to package and move up for a top receiver or offensive lineman, or acquiring enough picks to package together to go after a few need positions would probably be worth listening to,” Rodrigue wrote on February 20. “In this case, I look less at that tasty No. 3 overall pick and more at No. 34 (and then some) … though you’ve got to at least ask, right?!”

Random Ramsdom Fandom: My latest Rams draft….with trades (By JeffinBranson on Feb 18, 2025)

“This is my latest Rams draft. I traded into the 2nd round and added a 3rd, then traded down one spot to add another 5th and 6th. I got everything we need to complete a strong roster. No idea if any of these guys in the earlier rounds will be there, but I simply picked who I thought was best for our team when it was our turn. Added 2 greyhounds at WR….both taller guys…and 2 RBs, which will allow us to cut Rivers and Schroeder. Got a huge pass catching TE, our QB of the future (in my opinion), a starting CB, a run-stuffing nose tackle, and a starting quality LT. My best draft yet.

Of course, some of you might think it sucks.

If I Were GM… (By Jonmon on Feb 20, 2025)

“I understand there are many trades in here but they are all fair value trades. I used this website to calculate trade values. https://www.calculatorsoup.com/calculators/games/draft-pick-value.php

For Draft Boards I used Tankathon, NFL Mock Draft Database, and NFL Draft Buzz.

Free Agency:

The Rams trade Matt Stafford to the Steelers for pick 1.21.

The Rams trade Kyren Williams for a 4th, Cooper Kupp for a 5th, and Jonah Jackson for a 5th.

The Rams release Darius Williams.

The Rams sign QB Aaron Rodgers, QB Jimmy Garoppolo, OT Alaric Jackson, CB Carlton Davis, and OLB Michael Hoecht.

The Draft:

The Rams trade pick 1.21 to the Giants for picks 2.34 and 3.65.

The Rams trade pick 1.26 to the Bears for picks 2.41 and 3.72.

The Rams trade pick 2.34 to the Broncos for picks 2.51 and 3.85.

Draft:

2.41) TreVeyon Henderson RB

2.51) Cameron Williams OT

3.65) Mason Taylor TE

3.72) Jack Bech WR

3.85) Savion Williams WR

3.90) Jake Majors C

3.100) Charles Grant OT

4.125) Damien Martinez RB

4.KW) O’Donnell Fortune CB

5.JJ) Xavier Scott CB

5.CK) Cody Simon LB

6.188) CJ West DT

6.199) Jamaree Caldwell DT

6.200) Kobe King LB

Offense:

No, the Rams don’t select a QB in this simulation. Instead, in the weak QB class of 2025, they ride with two vets on a stacked team, and go all in on a young stud QB in the 2026 draft. My thought procprocess for 2025 was to build an elite run game with 2 TE sets. Mason Taylor is a good blocker with great hands. Jack Bech is a great blocker with good hands. Savion Williams is a triple threat as a WR/RB/QB. He can run sweeps and is someone McVay can use as a gadget player. The two RB’s TreVeyon Henderson and Damien Martinez are my favorite combo of RB’s this draft. Neither had a fumble this year for starters. Henderson is more a speed guy that can take it to the thouse any play, where Martinez is more a bowling ball of nails. Jake Majors is a top 2 Center. Better of the 2 in pass blocking. I’d be fine with either him or Jared Wilson there. Both would be an upgrade to Limmer but I’d let them battle it out in camp. Cameron Williams and Charles Grant can battle it out for RT in 2026 while providing backup duties at OT and OG in 2025.

Defense:

2 CB’s, 2 LB’s, and 2 DT’s should help fill any voids the defense has left after adding CB Carlton Davis, recently on the Lions, and re-signing OLB Michael Hoecht in Free Agency. It’s possible some of these guys rise or fall after the NFL Scouting Combine next weekend but I think these are good ranges on these guys.

So that’s it fellas. Let me know in the comments rather you like it or not. What would you change about it? Thanks and as always, GO RAMS!!!”
