Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links …
“I don’t know if there’s too many coaches that are more detailed than Kevin — extremely detailed, extremely diligent, very sharp schematically, and he has a breadth of schematic knowledge,” said safeties coach Joe Kasper, who has worked on the staff for three of the past four years. “He’s somebody that has worked in a few different offensive systems and circles, and right now I see him put things together for us and kind of help put the guardrails on things to try and get us to a point. He helps the staff a lot in that way, both offensively, from what I see, but also just structurally for the whole staff. So empowering him in a role like (offensive coordinator) would be outstanding for him. Well-deserving and a great, great coach.” That’s been a common reaction, but it doesn’t answer the two lingering questions: How Patullo will function as a play-caller and whether he’s simply an extension of Sirianni. Time will tell on the first question, but Patullo fought back on the second part. Perhaps it’s true that Patullo’s hire is Sirianni can flex his muscles after hoisting the Lombardi Trophy. Inside the building, though, the pitch is that Sirianni did not hire a puppet. If anything, he hired someone unafraid of him.
Eagles name Kevin Patullo as new Offensive Coordinator – PE.com
Said Sirianni of Patullo: “Very important to the success that we’ve had. He wears a lot of different hats. Helps me a lot with different head coaching things. I can’t tell you that I make a decision without saying to Kevin first, ‘What do you think?’ That’s in everything. That’s in-game, out of game, with scheduling, that’s with offensive stuff, that’s with game-management stuff, I lean on him a lot. That continuity is really important because he knows what I’m thinking in certain situations, how you want things to be taught, all of those different things, so he’s been a great resource for me the entire time, our success this year, but really the success we’ve had since we’ve been here. Can’t be great without the greatness of others and that is definitely a fact with Kevin Patullo and I trust him with everything. Got a ton of trust and faith with him. He’s awesome.”
Is there a risk in this hire? Patullo could prove to be in over his head. Being part of the offensive staff is different from being the OC. The only way to find out is for Patullo to get a chance to show what he can do. He’ll be able to lean on veteran coaches like Jason Michael, Sirianni and Stoutland. Michael and Sirianni have each been an OC. Stoutland has had a key hand in NFL offenses for more than a decade. Patullo won’t be out there on his own. I can’t stress enough that this is different from Brian Johnson being promoted two years ago. Johnson only had two years of NFL experience at that point. He had not been part of different NFL staffs. He had spent the bulk of his time in college. Johnson was a good QBs coach, but simply wasn’t ready to be the OC. He might be a fantastic OC in a year or two. He wasn’t the right guy for the job in 2023. As I mentioned earlier, Patullo has a lot of experience. He’s been on different teams with different coaches and around different players. He knows the NFL.
Super Bowl champion Eagles name Kevin Patullo as new OC – ESPN
The switch to Patullo means that quarterback Jalen Hurts will have his fifth different playcaller since entering the league in 2020. While Hurts hasn’t received the level of continuity he’d like, there is familiarity between he and Patullo, with Patullo helping to shape the offense and the passing game in particular the past several seasons. “I have a lot of confidence in him and what he’s shown,” Hurts said of Patullo last week. “However, I’ve learned over the years [the offensive coordinator decision] is out of my jurisdiction. So just kind of taking things as they come and trying to go out there and be the best I can be and just learn and evolve.” The last in-house offensive coordinator promotion did not go as hoped. The Eagles elevated Brian Johnson, a longtime friend of the Hurts family, to the role following the departure of Shane Steichen. The offensive visions of Sirianni, Johnson and Hurts never fully aligned, leading to a lack of identity on offense that factored into the team’s collapse down the stretch in 2023.
Miami Dolphins lose offensive assistant to Philadelphia Eagles – The Phinsider
That elevation left them with an opening at pass game coordinator. Enter Parks Frazier — formerly an offensive assistant with the Miami Dolphins under head coach Mike McDaniel. Frazier was only in South Florida for one year — joining the Dolphins ahead of the 2024 NFL season. Now — as reported by Ian Rapoport, Mike Garafolo and Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network — Frazier heads to Philadelphia to take over an offense that recently dominated a stellar Kansas City Chiefs defense en route to a championship victory.
What should the Eagles do with Dallas Goedert? – BGN
OUTLOOK: Dating back to 2020, Goedert has played in 62 out of 84 regular season games (73.8%). In other words, he’s averaged 4.4 missed games per season in that stretch. There is real concern about his durability/availability. And he just turned 30 last month. But Goedert has been an efficient and effective target when he is healthy. Goedert is also the Eagles’ best run blocking tight end by far. The Eagles can designate him as a post-June 1 cut to clear over $6.6 million in cap space later this offseason. They could also try to trade him after June 1 for those savings. But perhaps the Eagles would be best served to just ride it out for one more year before Goedert enters free agency in March 2026. If that’s the case, they should still invest in a potential replacement plan this offseason.
The Eagles Won The Super Bowl | NFC East Mixtape Vol. 162 – YouTube
It has been a week and a half since the Philadelphia Eagles won Super Bowl LIX and that means enough time has passed for the Mixologists to demand a special edition of the NFC East Mixtape to discuss what it all means. Join RJ Ochoa and Brandon Lee Gowton as they discuss the Eagles’ title, who it means the most for and what the fallout in the division is as a result of it all.
James Bradberry reflects on his 3 years with the Eagles – NBCSP
As his teammates danced and sprayed beer in their Superdome locker room on Sunday night, James Bradberry stood in his locker stall with ski goggles on and with a giant smile. He didn’t play in the game. He didn’t play all year. But Bradberry was a Super Bowl Champion. “I’m gonna get a ring,” Bradberry said at locker cleanout day on Thursday. “And I can always say I’m a Super Bowl champion. I’m a part of it.”
Lions news: Darius Slay open to a return to Detroit in 2025 – Pride Of Detroit
Darius Slay was the latest guest on the St. Brown Brothers podcast, and it didn’t take long for the conversation to turn to his NFL future. After winning his first Super Bowl over a week ago, Slay has said that he’d like 2025 to be his final season, and he told the St. Brown brothers that he would absolutely consider a return to the Detroit Lions for his final season. “If it is, it is. If it ain’t, it ain’t, but for sure the two spots I would love to always be at is either Philly or Detroit. Those are the main two. The main ones I’d love to be at,” Slay said. It’s not quite as simple as the Lions signing Slay in free agency, though. Slay is currently signed with the Eagles for the 2025 season. However, with a pending $13.8 million cap hit this year—and a $24.9 million cap hit waiting for them in a voided 2026 season season (due to a $16.1 million option bonus this year), the Eagles are not expected to keep Slay on his current salary. If they do release Slay, he’ll cost Philly a whopping $22.7 million in dead cap, but if they opt to give him a June 1 cut designation, that would be spread between 2025 ($9.4 million) and 2026 ($13.3 million).
Fan finds Eagles jacket after Super Bowl parade with special note inside – NBC10
Thousands of people left the Philadelphia Eagles Super Bowl parade with lots of great memories, but one Birds fan left the parade with a very special souvenir that comes with a very unique responsibility. Amy Rannabargar, a La Salle University graduate, shared with NBC10 that she found a retro-looking Eagles starter jacket hanging on a light post while at the Philadelphia Museum of Art when the parade was wrapping up. “I thought, oh no, someone left their jacket,” Rannabargar said. Well, Rannabargar later found out the jacket was actually left there intentionally, and inside, there was a note that said:
Saints to hire former Eagles’ Director of Sports Science Ted Rath – Canal Street Chronicles
Rath joined the Philadelphia Eagles in 2020 as the team’s director of sports performance. After his first season, he was promoted to vice-president of player performance. He spent three seasons in Philly before they parted ways in 2023.
Surprising NFL trades that make too much sense not to happen – SB Nation
Davante Adams to the Washington Commanders. There is no way in hell that Davante Adams sticks with the Jets at this point in his career. It’s been a mess for him ever since getting out of Green Bay, and following Aaron Rodgers to New York didn’t pan out. Now it’s on Aaron Glenn to correct course, and that will require time, and draft capital. The Commanders are a great landing spot for Adams because of their cap space, ability to compete, and the opportunity they offer him as a player. With two years left on his deal he’ll need to perform in order to see another contract, and being on a Kliff Kingsbury offense with Jayden Daniels and Terry McLaurin will do that. Washington already boasted one of the most explosive deep-threat offenses in the NFL last season, but as the Commanders transformed from reclamation project to legitimate contender it became clear they were lacking receiving weapons outside of McLaurin. Adams would allow the offense to take the next step. The Commanders need to just keep pouring gas on this fire, and seeing how far it will go.
The Washington Commanders currently have $82.2 million available according to Over the Cap, but that is based on their $279.5 million cap projection. Washington currently has the third-most cap space in the NFL, based on current numbers.
Sadly, the Garrett goes to Dallas talks didn’t flame out. Quite the contrary. It started heating up as a couple of credible football sites decided to include this blockbuster trade in their most recent mock drafts. Last week, NFL.com did a mock draft that had the Cowboys trading for Garrett and then this week, PFF.com did the same thing. While their mocks contained different drafted players, the gist had the Cowboys giving up the 12th overall pick in this year’s draft plus next year’s first-rounder for Garrett. While a move like this would do wonders for raising the hairs on the back of our necks in terms of excitement, there are so many factors that make this implausible.
ESPN identifies 3 top free agents as fits for the New York Giants – Big Blue View
Russell Wilson, QB. Here we go again. We discussed Wilson at length on Tuesday. ESPN ranks the 37-year-old grizzled veteran quarterback as its No. 42 free agent. Bowen is the latest to connect the dots from Wilson to the Giants. He writes: “Sitting at No. 3 in the draft order, the Giants are in the mix to land a quarterback with their first-round pick this spring. But adding Wilson would give them some security heading into the draft. In 11 starts for the Steelers, Wilson completed 63.7% of his throws for 2,482 yards and 16 touchdowns. Because of his diminished mobility, Wilson isn’t a natural creator at this stage. But Giants coach Brian Daboll can scheme for Wilson, using a play-action-heavy approach and setting him up on vertical throws.” Valentine’s View: I will say the same thing I said on Tuesday. If Wilson were willing to accept that there would likely be a young quarterback, whether that is Ward, Sanders, or someone drafted later, nipping at his heels, I think the Giants could live with this. They might have to.
NFL to return to São Paulo, Brazil in Week 1 of 2025 season; Chargers designated team – NFL.com
The National Football League today announced it will return to play a regular-season game in Brazil in 2025, following the success of the inaugural game in 2024. As part of the 2025 International Games, the Los Angeles Chargers will play as the designated team in São Paulo at Corinthians Arena, home to Brazilian soccer team SC Corinthians, on Friday night of Week 1 of the 2025 regular season.
