Ravens face tough offseason roster decisions with multiple star players
The Baltimore Ravens enter the 2025 NFL offseason with high expectations after putting together a stellar regular season but disappointing playoff run in 2024. The team will have plenty of opportunities to upgrade its roster over the next few months, but with improvements could come tough decisions with players already on the team.
When looking at Baltimore’s top-five cap hits for the 2025 offseason, there are few surprises in how the team is currently projected to dole out its money. However, that doesn’t mean the team’s decisions will be easy, especially with players like tight end Mark Andrews.
Ravens’ top 5 cap hits for 2025
via Ravens Wire:
1. Lamar Jackson: $43,650,000
2. Marlon Humphrey: $25,377,800
3. Roquan Smith: $23,718,750
4. Mark Andrews: $16,907,615
5. Nnamdi Madubuike: $16,475,000
While Lamar Jackson, Roquan Smith, and Nnamdi Madubuike will all be safe with restructures as a possibility, Andrews could make sense as someone who isn’t on the team next season for several reasons. Moving off of Andrews would result in $11M in cap savings, which seems one of the Ravens’ most significant avenues to free up money. Andrews has been receiving heat for his performance in the Divisional Round against the Buffalo Bills but is entering the final year of his contract with the possibility that Baltimore could choose fellow tight end Isaiah Likely over him if they can only sign one long-term.
Cornerback Marlon Humphrey had the best season of his career in 2024, so despite his high cap number, it appears highly unlikely that the team would outright move on from him. Instead, an extension could be in the cards, as it would free up money while giving Humphrey more stability as he enters the back end of his career.
The ways that the Ravens can free up cap space shouldn’t cause too much roster turnover in an offseason when the team needs to add talent, not lose it. It will be intriguing to see what decisions are made, as 2025 looks to be shaping up to be a make-or-break year for Baltimore.
