Latest Eagles free agency rumors and updates

Latest Eagles free agency rumors and updates

The NFL salary cap has been announced for 2025, giving Howie Roseman a little more to work with in free agency.

The key to NFL free agency is having a team culture that attracts some of the best players in the league, or even better, entices guys who have already been on the roster to stay in Philly even longer.

Howie Roseman built the 2024 roster with revenge on his mind, but it was the moves he made years prior that made it successful. He pivoted toward a much younger roster, which allowed him to pay some really big contracts to the Eagles’ top players. While he found a way to keep most of the offense together for the next several years, there are some guys he’s at risk of losing this offseason.

Here are some updates from guys that could land elsewhere if Roseman opts to forego a new deal.

Darius Slay

Heading into the NFC Championship Game, Darius Slay was taking it all in just in case that was his final game in Philly as an Eagle, but his uncertainty doesn’t mean he’s looking for a way out. Slay went on the St. Brown podcast and said that he’d prefer to re-sign with the Eagles, but did limit his interest next season to Philly or Detroit.

Mekhi Becton

It’s no secret that coming to Philly to play for Jeff Stoutland changed the career trajectory for OL Mekhi Becton, and while he’s certainly looking for a raise and some stability with his next contract, it looks like staying with the Eagles might be a priority.

Zack Baun

The special teamer turned All-Pro linebacker is still considered a top target for the Eagles this offseason, especially now that the salary cap for 2025 has been announced with a notable bump from 2024. Baun has been effusive in his appreciation for Philly and wanting to stay, but it’s going to be whether Roseman can offer something comparable — he can, and he likely will.

Josh Sweat and Milton Williams

Roseman is a bit of a mastermind, but it’s still unlikely he finds a way to pay every player who deserves it, which is why Sweat and Williams are considered likely to move on this offseason.

Sweat hired new representation in the weeks leading up to the Super Bowl, and knew that the end of the season would be hugely important for his future — unfortunately for the Eagles, Sweat had some of his best performances all season when it mattered most and is looking at a huge new contract somewhere.

Williams seems more retainable for the Eagles, but on locker clean out day, the DT was wearing a hoodie with his agency on it, not an Eagles merchandise. He admitted he loves Philly, but also made sure to point out that he was due a BIG pay raise.
