Daniel Jeremiah mock draft: Travis Hunter, not Shedeur Sanders, for New York Giants

Would the Giants let Shedeur Sanders pass them by?

NFL Network draft insider Daniel Jeremiah is out with his second mock draft of the 2025 draft cycle, and he presents a fascinating — and plausible — quarterback-less scenario for the New York Giants.

Jeremiah mocks Penn State edge defender Abdul Carter to the Tennessee Titans at No. 1 and Miami quarterback Cam Ward to the Cleveland Browns at No. 2.

That leaves the player most often connected to the Giants in mock drafts — Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders — available at No. 3. Jeremiah, though, goes another way.

He gives the Giants Colorado cornerback/wide receiver Travis Hunter.

Jeremiah doesn’t explain passing on Sanders. Instead, he says this:

The Giants do their best to make up for letting Saquon Barkley walk in free agency last year by adding a dynamic two-way player in Hunter.

To take or pass on Sanders is a real-world scenario the Giants might, obviously, face. They have spent a lot of time already watching him practice, play, and simply getting to know him.

It seems apparent from the interactions we have seen between Sanders and Brian Daboll that the Giants head coach is a Sanders fan. Does that feeling extend through the rest of the organization?

Maybe. Maybe not.

Paul Schwartz of the New York Post reported recently that there is “concern” in the organization about the dynamic with Shedeur and his ever-present Hall of Fame father, Deion Sanders. There is apparent concern about Deion’s reaction if things don’t go well, something that needs to be delved into with a coach and GM entering the draft on the hot seat.

There is also the idea Schwartz reported that the Giants see Hunter as a cornerback, and don’t see his playing two ways as feasible in the NFL.
