The Buffalo Bills had a historically good offense in 2024, in large part because of the continued evolution of quarterback Josh Allen, but they also fielded the best offensive line Allen has ever played behind.

Pro Football Focus ranked every offensive line in the NFL following the season, and the Bills came in ranked number five.

The offensive line largely overachieved this year. Aside from left tackle Dion Dawkins, the offensive line has seen a lot of change under head coach Sean McDermott. But, O’Cyrus Torrence and Spencer Brown came into their own throughout the 2023 season, solidifying the right side ahead of this season.

The remaining questions heading into the season were how would the departure of starting center and captain Mitch Morse affect the team, and how will the position change of Connor McGovern from guard to center play out.

The offensive line jelled quickly in the season. They led an offense that finished in the top ten in both passing yards per game and rushing yards per game, showing their versatility as a unit. They also allowed the least amount of sacks in the NFL.

Here is how the Bills offensive line was graded by PFF this year:

  • LT Dion Dawkins: 72.4.
  • LG David Edwards: 66.1.
  • C Connor McGovern: 69.5.
  • RG O’Cyrus Torrence: 55.5.
  • RT Spencer Brown: 77.9.
  • Sixth OL Alec Anderson: 70.4.

PFF’s full breakdown of the 2024 Bills offensive line can be found below:

Buffalo’s offensive line continued to have very good injury luck; Bills starting offensive linemen have missed a combined one game due to injury over the past two seasons. That came this season when right tackle Spencer Brown did not play in Week 11 against the Chiefs. The Bills capitalized on that continuity to become one of the best offensive lines in football in 2024.

The unit ranked fourth in the league in PFF pass-blocking efficiency rating (88.1), allowing 134 pressures on 581 pass plays. The Bills‘ line surrendered only four sacks, which was, by far, the fewest in the NFL. No other team allowed fewer than eight.
