The Eagles released a video with the player speeches from their team meeting before the big game, and the QB opened up about how empty he felt two years ago.

It’s been a week since the Eagles won the Super Bowl, and we’re still getting some insight into the team’s mindset heading into the big game.

The Eagles released the latest “Unscripted” and fans got the chance to hear player speeches during their team meeting on Saturday night before the game. Ten players spoke, including Lane Johnson, Zack Baun, Nakobe Dean, Darius Slay, Jordan Mailata, A.J. Brown, Saquon Barkley, C.J. Gardner-Johnson, Brandon Graham, and Jalen Hurts.

There were a lot of notable moments throughout the speeches, but Hurts was the last one to talk and had the most impactful message.

“Last time being here, this shit changed my life. It changed my life and it changed my mentality, and it changed everything. Because, for so long, I was seeking, ‘What would I do if I had this moment again?’ What would I do when this opportunity met me again? On the biggest stage, everybody watching. I didn’t get benched — I put on a good show, and I couldn’t have done that without you guys. But, I left that mother fucker so empty.”

He went on to talk about how football is the ultimate team sport, and they need to take everything one play at a time.

“And ask yourself, how do you want to be remembered?”

It was an incredibly honest thing for Hurts to share in the team’s last meeting, and it’s easy to see how it helped inspire the team to go out there and dominate on Sunday.

Other notables

  • A.J. Brown continues to shed the diva nonsense by taking a few moments to show love to the rest of the wide receiver room, who he admitted don’t get enough shine because he’s the one out in the forefront of the group.
  • Saquon Barkley admitted he gained confidence throughout the week leading up to the Super Bowl, realizing that as he watched more film, he didn’t think the Chiefs had enough answers to stop them. (They didn’t.)
  • Brandon Graham mentioned getting a chance to really see how guys were putting in work when he was sidelined with his injury, and appreciates how hard everyone was willing to push themselves in order to give 100 percent for each other.
  • Lane Johnson admitted they were a little too emotional two years ago heading into the big game, and just reminded everyone to stay steady and true to the work they’ve put in.
  • C.J. Gardner-Johnson got emotional talking about everything this group had been through, and how he knows everyone in that room was a winner.
