Social media has varying opinions on the veterab linebacker requesting a trade.
The Cincinnati Bengals and their fans got a bit of a surprise Wednesday when veteran linebacker Germaine Pratt requested a trade from the team.
One of the first draft picks of the Zac Taylor and Lou Anarumo era for this team, Pratt is now potentially looking to bounce like his defensive coordinator, who was fired following the season. It appears he may have a market.
Some are less than sure of what the Bengals can actually get in return for him.
I’d imagine you’re getting very little for Germaine Pratt on the trade block. 6th or 7th?

I surmise here that Pratt’s representatives, with Germaine entering the final season of his current deal, broached a potential contract extension with the Bengals’ FO which was likely rejected. Then this trade request followed. https://t.co/cQXV4cNeiL

I’d take literally anything for Pratt in a trade. Including a bottle of half drank Gatorade.

Colts very likely balk at this but the worst anyone can ever say to a trade proposal is no.
Just imagining what Quenton Nelson in pass pro at LG would do for Burrow. https://t.co/R1TWnGnv6B

Lou Anarumo & Germaine Pratt talking about each other in 2023 per @Enquirer & @JungleRoarPod
Clear connection rt, could see Pratt trying to make his way to Indy for a reunion:
Trade Cap Breakdown for his 2025 cap (last year of deal):
Colts: $5.85m
Bengals: $2.33m dead cap https://t.co/Q5j7zdkNPC pic.twitter.com/gabKAaTiAD— Jay Robins mark (@RobinsLucas) February 12, 2025
It also shows how polarizing of a player he has been lately that there is a huge discrepancy in how fans feel about his departure.
Will Burrow have to throw for 6,000 yards next season? https://t.co/xfdiO8rYS9

Germaine Pratt brought plenty of great moments to the Cincinnati Bengals… but this comment after the Steelers essentially ended the Bengals season with Russell Wilson checking it down all game certainly stuck with me⬇️⬇️⬇️

Bad bad bad idea. https://t.co/df2in4JzvH

One thing everyone can agree on is how many great moments he has had in this era for the Bengals.
Although the time has come to move on from Germaine Pratt, this moment is inked forever.
Still get chills. pic.twitter.com/CoUY386ONe

This INT will forever be in the hearts of all Bengals’ fans.
I also really enjoyed Pratt’s strip/FF of Travis Kelce in the December 2022 (Week 13) home game vs. the Chiefs.
Such a critical play and really was a turning point in that game. https://t.co/z8AYTs8zev

Germaine Pratt ranked 10th in the NFL in tackles this past season (143) and was one of only three players with 140+ tackles and 6+ turnover plays), along with Zack Baun and Zaire Franklin. https://t.co/mNwxmEYdFe

In his 6th season @ 28yrs old, Germaine Pratt had a career high 18 missed tackles for a missed tackle rate of 11.2%.
Doubt there’s much interest in terms of a trade, but it’s time to move on #Bengals https://t.co/Q7Awtr7NFa

I think an obvious path forward for the Bengals, if possible, is to roll some of the cap savings on Pratt to bringing back Akeem Davis-Gaither.
I’d be more worried about the trenches in front of the LBs, not the LBs, to be honest.

Pratt was already a veteran the team could cut and save a sizable amount of money and cap space on to use this offseason elsewhere.
He simply isn’t a 3-down linebacker in the league, and a replacement at linebacker is an easy place to save money on the market in the NFL, either through the draft/ undrafted free agents or just regular free agency.
That doesn’t make Pratt’s place in this era any more valued or important. You can recognize the team can probably bounce from this while also looking back on his play fondly. Hopefully he lands on his feet wherever he goes.
