Former Bengals safety, longtime NFL coach passes away
Before his coaching career, Jauron played as a safety in the NFL for eight seasons. He was drafted by the Detroit Lions in the fourth round of the 1973 NFL Draft after playing running back at Yale. Jauron was named to the Pro Bowl in 1974 during his time with the Lions and also played for the Cincinnati Bengals from 1978 to 1980. He appeared in 42 games, including 29 starts, and made 11 interceptions. That ranks 22nd on the franchise’s all-time list.
