Earlier this week, I asked the following question:
What is your favorite or best recipe that you like to break out for Super Bowl Sunday or just for game days in general? If you don’t have an actual receipt that you can share, let us know what other foods and or drinks you have for your version of Super Bowl Sunday.
Below are some of your answers as we close in on the big game-
Bill Moody has a drink recipe for you. It’s similar to my drink of choice, Weller (or any wheated bourbon} and ginger ale.
Don’t have an actual recipe to share on here, buuuuut… If you’re looking for a nice quick and easy drink… Sprite + Bulliet Whiskey over ice. Its simple to make, refreshing and tastes good. Just add the whiskey to taste. And if you like it, you can thank Denise.
Yarganaught is having pork smoking kinda party.
I’m expecting about 10 guests, so I’ll probably smoke 2 pork shoulders (and maybe a slab or two of ribs). People can make pulled pork sandwiches with it, put it on nachos with some queso dip, and/or my wife wraps it in dough and makes pigs in a blanket appetizers. There will be other food, like some random veggie tray or something like Spanish (or stir fry) rice.
sdphinsfan will also be firing up the smoker this week/weekend.
That sounds pretty good…we’ve got a smaller crowd this year too so I’ll be firing up the smoker. On Saturday, I’m going to smoke a pot of chili. That’ll sit in the fridge until about noon Sunday and then it’ll go in the crockpot on low all afternoon. On Sunday, I’ll be smoking wings. All dry rub and then some sauces on the side for dipping. Personal favorite right now is the smoked wing dipped in a sweet chili sauce…
21Dave is singlehandedly trying to prop up the local economy while adding a bit of TMI.
Delivery from about 4-5 different place , Chinese food, Pizza, Wings, Mexican and sometimes I will get some Greek food. Oh and I forgot , plenty of toilet paper and dude wipes!$
Spok507 is making something called “loose meat sandwiches,” which I had to look up, being from Florida and all. According to our friends at Wikipedia, it’s an Iowa/midwest thing originating in Montana. It is basically a hamburger where the meat is loose, ala a sloppy joe minus the sauce that may or may not have onions cooked with the meat and other toppings that you might find on a hamburger like pickles, ketchup, mustard, raw onion, and/or cheese. The loose meat sandwich is also known as a “tavern sandwich.”
We usually make loose meat sandwiches and party potatoes. Both midwest staples. Everyone brings something so we end up with way too much food and about 10 crock pots in my kitchen. But my favorite is my guacamole cheat — avacados, pico de gallo from Target, and diced mangoes. Paired with Tostitos lime chips is perfect!
Alpha6 will be supplementing.
Definitely on the menu of the buffet style munchies is:
a hot spinach dip for the Tortilla chips.
The rest is a supplement to that.
Jptapt is going the Publix route with his three-part plan, six parts if you count halftime. Are their wings that good? I am usually a Wing Stop guy.
1 part car
1 part money
2 boxes Publix Deli Hot & Spicy Fried Chicken Wings
Repeat at halftime.
There are many great suggestions/ideas but no actual recipes. I guess there’s always Google! Thank you to each of you who took the time to answer our question of the day. If you missed the original post, please add your suggestions/recipes in the comment section below. Don’t forget to join us this coming Sunday for our Super Bowl live thread that will go live an hour before kickoff.
