Giants continue filling out 2025 staff
The New York Giants have hired Jeffrey Burris as their new assistant secondary/cornerback coach, per Jordan Schultz. He joins new defensive backs coach Marquand Manuel on staff.

Burris has just one stint as an NFL coach, from 2013 to 2015 under Joe Philbin with the Miami Dolphins. Not so coincidentally, Joe Schoen was the assistant director of college scouting for Miami in 2013 before being promoted to director of player personnel from 2014 to 2016. Burris and Schoen do have that history together.
Burris spent most of his career in college. He was recently the co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach for Louisiana Tech. Before that, he was the cornerbacks coach at Louisiana from 2021-2023, and he was the cornerbacks coach at Lousiana Tech from 2018-2020.
He spent one season in the Power-5 with Notre Dame as a defensive analyst in 2016 — his alma mater. He was a consensus first-team All-American for the Fightin’ Irish. He was selected in the first round by the Buffalo Bills and played his rookie contract upstate. He played for the Colts for four seasons and the Bengals for two, before ending his career on the Patriots practice squad in 2004.
He finished his career with 19 interceptions, two returned for a touchdown, and 536 tackles. Burris did coach both L’Jarius Sneed and Amik Robertson at Lousiana Tech — two players who have exceeded their fourth-round draft value. That is something to stand on.
