Victor Cruz puts on his GM hat
Former New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz wants Giants GM Joe Schoen to pass on quarterbacks Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders in the 2025 NFL Draft and select cornerback/wide receiver Travis Hunter.
Of course he does.
Asked on Thursday at the Super Bowl in New Orleans by SB Nation’s RJ Ochoa which of the two quarterback he preferred the Giants to select at No. 3, Cruz opted for the Heisman Trophy winner.
“I’m a Travis Hunter guy. I like going Travis Hunter. We need a guy that is very difficult to game plan for and I don’t think we have that right now. We need a guy that you don’t know if he’s gonna play offense, defense, he’s gonna play 20 plays on offense, 20 plays on defense, special teams,” Cruz said. “We need a guy that is just a game breaker, a guy that can just wreck the game at any point in time.
“The guy has an unbelievable skill set we can absolutely take advantage of.”
Cruz’s plan at quarterback?
Get the best veteran you can in free agency and then do whatever has to be done to make Arch Manning a Giant in 2026.
“I think we can get a quarterback in free agency and have a little placeholder for a year or two, and then Arch Manning comes in,” Cruz said. “But, we’ve gotta do everything that we need to do to get Arch Manning in a blue uniform.”
