The 2024 first-round pick puts on his GM hat
Should the New York Giants hitch their wagon to a rookie quarterback in 2025? A big-name veteran? Some form of both? Wide receiver Malik Nabers, fresh off an outstanding rookie season, told PFT Live he has “no preference.”
Nabers, though, did more or less express a preference. He doesn’t want to see the Giants ask a rookie to try and save the franchise without a proper mentor in place to help him.
“I would want to have a vet in there,” Nabers said. “If we decide to pick a rookie, in my eye I would want a vet to be in that same room with that rookie teaching him some stuff so when he’s out there — he’s not just out there in his head [thinking] he has to be the savior of this team. That’s a lot to put on a rookie.”
The only quarterback on the roster currently is Tommy DeVito.
Nabers is on pretty safe ground with his thoughts on the situation, since the Giants are going to need to add multiple players. Adding both a veteran and a draft pick makes sense. It is just a matter of what caliber of veteran and how high of a draft pick.
