Los Angeles Rams News and Links for 2/4/25
The Los Angeles Rams may move on from Cooper Kupp, and from reports they are actively trying to move on from the L.A. legend. It’s another reminder that nothing lasts, change is inevitable and the NFL is a “What have you done for me lately?” business.
It’s not surprising as these types of rumors have been floated prior to this week.
I would love Kupp to stay a Ram, but believe it or not no one is asking me. So, as a fan of the team I am along for the ride whether I like the decision or not. I’ll admit if the Rams move on and win a Super Bowl then so be it, but I’d rather see that happen with Kupp on the roster. I trust the Sean McVay and the franchise know more about what they are doing than I do.
In McVay we trust.
In the meantime, comment on whatever you want. Have a great Tuesday and thanks for checking out Turf Show Times!

So I thought it was just the NBA trade season

Cooper Kupp said the Rams are working to trade him immediately: ‘I don’t agree with the decision’ (sports.yahoo.com)
“Kupp’s best season in the league came in 2021, when he helped lead the team to its second-ever Super Bowl win. He racked up 1,947 yards and 16 touchdowns on 145 catches that campaign, all of which led the league to earn him the triple crown. He also averaged an NFL-best 114.5 yards per game. The Rams beat the Cincinnati Bengals in the Super Bowl at their home stadium that season, and Kupp was named the game’s MVP.
The 31-year-old has two years left on his three-year, $80 million deal. He is owed $20 million next season and just shy of $20 million in 2026.”
I was informed that the team will be seeking a trade immediately and will be working with me and my family to find the right place to continue competing for championships. I don’t agree with the decision and always believed it was going to begin and end in LA.
Still, if there’s… pic.twitter.com/XWmbGVscGy

Cooper Kupp says Rams informed him they are ‘seeking’ to trade him ‘immediately’ (nfl.com)
“Wide receiver Cooper Kupp released a statement Monday saying he was informed Los Angeles is seeking to trade him.
“I was informed that the team will be seeking a trade immediately and will be working with me and my family to find the right place to continue competing for championships,” Kupp’s statement read. “I don’t agree with the decision and always believed it was going to begin and end in LA.
“Still, if there’s one thing that I have learned over the years: there are so many things that are out of your control, but it is how you respond to these things that you will look back on and remember.”
Rams lose rising star assistant to team they will face in 2025 season, leaving Sean McVay with increasingly big offseason task (atozsports)
“The Los Angeles Rams are losing another offensive assistant from their ranks following an impressive run to the Divisional Round of the playoffs, with Sean McVay saying farewell to a key lieutenant.
On Monday the Houston Texans announced they have hired Nick Caley as their new offensive coordinator, replacing Bobby Slowik.
Caley had been serving as the Rams tight ends coach and passing game coordinator.”

Random Ramsdom Fandom: Should the Rams sign a Free Agent CB and if so, which one? (By RamsRoll on Feb 2, 2025)
“Many fans here at TST have opined that the Rams #1 need to fill in the 2025 offseason is a “sticky” outside Cornerback. When he was in his prime, Jaylen Ramsey was the anchor in the secondary that steadied the Rams’ ship. Do you miss him & what he accomplished for the Rams? Do you wish we had someone like him in 2025?
In this FanPost I will attempt to list and delve into certain 2025 Free Agent Cornerbacks from the top down. My list is not exhaustive. What do you think? Should the Rams target a CB in Free Agency this year? If so, who? How much do you think he will cost? Can the Rams afford him?
First, at the top, is 28 year old NY Jets CB DJ Reed. In 14 games in 2024 Reed had 64 tackles & 11 pass breakups. Reed has averaged 10.25 pass breakups over the last 4 years.
Second, is 28 year old Detroit Lions CB Carlton Davis, III. In 13 games in 2024 he had 56 tackles, 2 ints & 11 pass breakups. Davis has had 11 plus pass breakups in 5 of his last 6 seasons.
Third, is 27 year old Vikings CB Byron Murphy. In 17 games in 2024, he had 81 tackles, 6 ints & 14 pass breakups.
Fourth, is 30 year old 49ers CB Charles Ward. In 12 games in 2024 he had 54 tackles & 7 pass breakups.
Fifth, is 25 year old Chargers CB Asante Samuel, Jr. He played in only 4 games in 2024 due to a shoulder injury. He had 13 tackles & 2 pass breakups.
Sixth, is 26 year old Saints CB Paulsen Adebo. He played in 7 games in 2024 before he broke his femur. He had 52 tackles, 3 ints & 10 pass breakups.
NOTE to readers: I did not include every FA CB here because some are slot CBs and some are getting too old. If you wish to, feel free to chime in in the comments and add someone for the Rams to consider signing.
Who is your favorite FA CB for the Rams to target this year? How much do you think he will cost? Do you think the Rams can afford him?

Should the Rams try to trade down from 1st rd #26 this year? (By RamsRoll on Feb 3, 2025)
“Everyone knows that the Rams traded this year’s 2nd rd pick (#58) to Carolina last year to move up to #39 to select Braden Fiske last year. Now the Rams find themselves facing the prospect of waiting a long time between pick #26 and pick #90 this year before they can pick another player at #90. In the meantime while they are waiting many very good players will fly off the board between pick #26 and pick #90.
Is there a possible solution for this problem? Yes there is. The Rams will have to find a willing trade partner who wants to move up to #26 to pick a player that, that team wants/covets so the Rams can trade back and receive in return picks that will close the gap for them.
Are there any possibilities. Yes. Here are some hypothetical trade scenarios for the Rams to consider. First, Rams trade #1.26 & 3.90 to Bills for #1.30 & 2.62. Second, Rams trade #1.26 to Bills for #2.56, 2.62 & 4.108. In the following hypothetical trades the Rams would get a third (they have two 3rds now) 3rd rd pick & they could then package 2 of their 3rds to move back up into the 2nd rd. Third, Rams trade 1.26, 6.192 & 6.204 to Browns for 2.33, 3.94 & 4.103. Fourth, Rams trade 1.26 & 6.192 to Jags for 2.36, 3.88 & 4.106. Fifth, Rams trade 1.26 & 6.192 to Saints for 2.40, 3.71 & 4.130. Sixth, Rams trade 1.26 to Raiders for 2.37 & 3.73.
Do you favor any particular hypothetical trade scenario over the others? If so, which one? Why? Feel free to suggest other ideas in a comment in this FanPost. Or would you prefer that the Rams simply stand pat and pick BPA at #26? Who would you love to pick at 26 if he is there and why?
Feel free to post any mock draft you wish in the comments using the trade down formula you think is best for the Rams. Here is a link for NFLMockDraftDataBase. NFLMockDraftDataBase

Pass game coordinator/TEs coach Nick Caley has been hired by the Texans as their next OC.
Best of luck in Houston, Coach Caley.
