Short answer? Yes. Long answer? Also yes, but with some embedded tweets and stats.
The NFL isn’t like the NBA where superstar players regularly agitate for trades while under contract and potential Slovenian Hall of Famers are traded in the middle of the night from Dallas to Los Angeles for … reasons. So, when a star player in the NFL requests a trade it is worth sitting up and taking note.
On Monday morning, Cleveland Browns star pass rusher Myles Garrett announced that he was requesting a trade out of Cleveland. In his note he said, among other things, “while I’ve loved calling this city my home, my desire to win and compete on the biggest stages won’t allow me to be complacent.”

He went on to say that, “the goal was never to go from Cleveland to Canton, it has always been to compete for and win a Super Bowl.” While I’m sure every team in the league will be interested in securing Garrett’s services, I can think of only one team that is playing in the Super Bowl on Sunday that hasn’t made a blood pact with Satan.
That team? The Philadelphia freaking Eagles.
Since recording a franchise record 70 sacks as a team in 2022, the Eagles have fallen back to the middle of the pack in quarterback harassing. In 2023 they were T-19th with 43 sacks and this year they were T-13th with 41 sacks, coincidentally the same number as the Browns.
Garrett contributed 14 of those 41 sacks for Cleveland and finished second in the league behind Trey Hendrickson’s 17.5. Josh Sweat paced the Birds with eight sacks this year, while Nolan Smith, Jr. had 6.5 and Milton Williams added five. The last time Garrett had fewer than eight sacks in a season was his rookie season in 2017 when he had seven, but only played in 11 games.

In eight years playing for the Browns, Garrett has 102.5 sacks and 53 wins which averages out to 12.8 sacks and 6.6 wins per year. Not exactly a great return for Garrett’s continued on-field excellence if you ask me. Hell, Garrett has as many career playoff wins (one) as he does winless seasons!
Not entirely sure what sort of package the Eagles could put together to bring Garrett to Philly, but Sweat and Brandon Graham (who may retire) are both free agents this off-season and it’s difficult to see Howie Roseman not wanting to bring in some new faces to reinvigorate the pass rush in 2025.
