He’s done this before
Justin Jefferson is the best wide receiver in the National Football League, and you don’t have to be a fan of the Minnesota Vikings to realize that. On Monday, he showed why he’s also one of the league’s best people off of the field as well.
Jefferson, in a joint effort with USAA and Disabled American Veterans (DAV), has gifted a trip to Sunday’s Super Bowl in New Orleans to an Army veteran who provided support to the New Orleans area in the past.
The recipient of the trip is Staff Sergeant Kim Hubers, who spent 14 years in the Army National Guard.
“I’m humbled by the love and recognition I receive from our team’s supporters and wanted to return the favor by shining a spotlight on SSG Kim Hubers, a truly inspiring fan who always puts others before herself,” said NFL star Justin Jefferson. “It’s a special honor to team up with USAA, Visa and Disabled American Veterans to recognize Kim for being a great community leader, mother, patriot, and my #1 fan, with this trip to the Super Bowl in New Orleans!”
During her 14-year career, Staff Sergeant Hubers was assigned to the 727th Transportation Company and the 1742nd Transportation Company, both parts of the South Dakota National Guard, working as a team leader and a heavy vehicle operator. She was part of a team that provided emergency assistance to the New Orleans area following Hurricane Katrina, as well as clean up following blizzards and flooding in Fargo, North Dakota. She also has an overseas deployment to her credit, heading to Iraq at the start of the second Iraq war in 2003 to 2004. SSG Hubers was forced to medically retire from the Army National Guard in 2015.
Following her retirement, she worked with adults with developmental disabilities and raised four children with her husband, Clinton (who is, apparently, a 49ers fan). She is also still active in volunteer work with the Sioux Falls chapter of DAV.
As a part of the Super Bowl trip, Hubers and one of her daughters will get to meet Jefferson and numerous other NFL players and legends at the USAA Salute to Service Lounge before attending the game.
This isn’t the first time that Jefferson has gifted someone a Super Bowl trip. He did so back in 2023 as well, which was also a team-up with USAA.
Congratulations to SSG Kim Hubers on her trip to Super Bowl LIX, and kudos to Justin Jefferson for making it possible.
