New Jags coach requests interview with Rams assistant Zak Kromer
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are pissed off at Liam Coen for how he left the team last week, so they denied his request to interview assistant OL coach Brian Picucci to follow him to Jacksonville as the next Jaguars OL coach. They did it again when Coen wanted to interview former Rams OL coach Kevin Carberry too. So what else is Coen to do except go back to his old boss for help?
According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Jaguars have requested to interview Rams assistant OL coach Zak Kromer.
#Rams assistant OL coach Zak Kromer is interviewing for the #Jaguars offensive line coach position, per source. Kromer has spent the last eight years with Rams, where he worked with new Jaguars coach Liam Coen.

Really it seems more unfair to Picucci than it does to Coen, for the Bucs to deny his opportunity to get a promotion, but maybe Tampa Bay’s pettiness will extend to a raise for him.
In either case, Coen was inevitably going to have to go back to his old team, where he was once the offensive coordinator in 2022.
Kromer, obviously hired because his dad is veteran OL coach Aaron Kromer, has spent the last eight seasons with the Rams. The Rams should be fine with Ryan Wendell still on the staff as the OL coach, so it’s only a matter of time to see if this could be a significant loss or not. As he wasn’t even Coen’s second choice, maybe not.
