We’re asking everyone to call their shot
Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the NFL. Throughout the year we ask questions of the most plugged-in Minnesota Vikings fans and fans across the country. Sign up here to participate in the weekly emailed surveys.
We are back with a new edition of our SB Nation Reacts survey for this week, and while we’ve only got one question for you, it’s the question that a lot of the Vikings’ offseason discussion is going to center around for the next few weeks, so we want everyone to call their shots here.
The question, of course, is “What Will the Vikings Do with Sam Darnold?” (You probably gathered that from. . .you know. . .the title of the article.) With Darnold having wildly exceeded expectations on the one-year deal he signed with the team last offseason, the Vikings are going to have some options. I think we’ve covered most of them in the survey question.
A couple of important dates to keep in mind when it comes to the Darnold situation with the Vikings. The window for teams to be able to put the franchise tag on a player will open on 18 February at 3:00 PM Central time. That window remains open until 3:00 PM Central on 4 March. The start of the 2025 league year and the start of free agency comes at 3:00 PM Central on 12 March, which is a Wednesday, with the “legal tampering” period kicking off 48 hours before that on 10 March.
So, five weeks from today we’ll know for sure whether or not the Vikings will be using the franchise tag on Darnold, and in six weeks we’ll find out where he might be heading if the Vikings don’t take that step.
As always, we invite you to vote in the poll below and to sound off in the comments section about our question. We’ll have the results for you sometime during the course of this week.
Have at it, everybody!
