If hired, Bevell would reunite with newly hired Raiders coach Pete Carroll.
As reported by Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, Miami Dolphins quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator Darrell Bevell interviewed with the Las Vegas Raiders on Tuesday for their opening at the offensive coordinator position.
If hired, Bevell would be reunited with newly hired Raiders head coach Pete Carroll. Bevell was Carroll’s offensive coordinator when both were employed by the Seattle Seahawks. The pair won a Super Bowl in Seattle following the 2013 NFL season.
Bevell has been with the Miami Dolphins since February of 2022 when he was hired by then first-year head coach Mike McDaniel to work closely with Miami’s young quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. The Dolphins quarterback has had effusive praise for the work that Bevell has done in Miami.
In a 2023 article written by Joe Schad of the Palm Beach Post, Tagovailoa had this to say about his relationship with Bevell:
“I had him and his family come over to our house and we had dinner,” Tagovailoa said. “We watched a movie as well, in the theater room. Great family. I think having someone of his personality where regardless of how cool you guys are, if you’re not on top of your stuff, he’s going to let you know. That’s kind of the relationship that I would say I have with him. Really good, but I know what he expects and what he expects I kind of expect out of myself as well.”
We will keep our readers updated with any and all information regarding Darrell Bevell’s possible departure as well as all of the offseason news as the Dolphins gear up for free-agency, the NFL Draft, etc.
