NFC Championship Game status updates.

The Philadelphia Eagles issued their third and final official injury report on Friday in advance of their NFC Championship Game matchup against the Washington Commanders.

The Eagles ruled two players OUT: Britain Covey and Byron Young.

The Eagles opened Covey’s 21-day practice window to return from injured reserve earlier this week. Covey was then a limited participant on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. He’s not yet ready to play but he could be active in the Super Bowl if the Eagles are able to beat the Commanders. Cooper DeJean will remain the team’s punt returner for now.

Young has been a full participant in practice ever since the Eagles opened his practice window to return from IR but they’ve clearly been in no rush to activate him. Young’s 21-day window ends in the middle of next week. At that point, they’ll have to either put him on the roster or shut him down for the season. The latter option seems much more likely to happen, assuming the Eagles advance.

The Eagles ruled one player QUESTIONABLE: Cam Jurgens.

Jurgens was limited in Friday’s practice after being listed under “did not participate” on Wednesday and Thursday. Jeff McLane’s reporting indicates signs point to Jurgens playing:

If Jurgens can’t play or has to leave the game early, the Eagles will move Landon Dickerson to center and bring in Tyler Steen at left guard.

We’ll find out if Jurgens is officially active or not for Sunday’s game when Eagles-Commanders inactives are announced 90 minutes prior to kickoff at 1:30 PM Eastern on Sunday. Of course, there will probably be more reporting on Jurgens prior to that point. The Eagles’ Saturday practice squad elevations will also be worth monitoring as it relates to the team potentially preparing for him not to play.

Jalen Hurts, Quinyon Mitchell, Dallas Goedert, A.J. Brown, Lane Johnson, Josh Sweat, Kenny Pickett, and Fred Johnson are all set to play despite appearing on the injury report this week.

Hurts fully participated in practice for the second day in a row. The starting quarterback said he anticipates wearing a brace on his injured left knee.

Mitchell also fully participated in practice for the second day in a row. The rookie cornerback is ready to play.

Goedert fully participated in Friday’s practice after being listed under DNP on Wednesday and Thursday. He’s ready to play. Good news for the Eagles’ offensive outlook.

Brown, Lane, Sweat, and Pickett are all ready to play.

Fred Johnson returned to practice on Friday after missing Thursday due to a “personal matter.”

PHILADELPHIA EAGLES INJURY REPORT (FRIDAY)

OUT

WR Britain Covey (neck)
DT Byron Young (hamstring)

QUESTIONABLE

C Cam Jurgens (back)

RESERVE/INJURED

DB James Bradberry IV
OT Le’Raven Clark
WR Britain Covey (practice window open)
LB Nakobe Dean
OL Jack Driscoll
DE Brandon Graham
TE C.J. Uzomah
FB/LB Ben VanSumeren
DT Byron Young (practice window open)

The Eagles opened Young’s 21-day practice window to return from IR on January 8. The Eagles opened Covey’s 21-day practice window to return from IR on January 22. Bradberry is eligible to be activated if/when the Eagles desire to activate him, which isn’t looking likely. Dean is out for the season and could miss games in 2025. Graham might be out for the season due to a triceps injury, though he hasn’t totally ruled out a chance of him playing in the Super Bowl. Uzomah is only eligible to return if the Eagles make it to the Super Bowl. BVS is out for the season due to a knee injury. Driscoll is out for the season with an ankle injury. Clark is out for the season since he was placed on IR back in May.

WASHINGTON COMMANDERS INJURY REPORT (FRIDAY)

The Commanders ruled one player OUT: starting right guard Sam Cosmi.

Cosmi suffered a season-ending ACL injury during Washington’s win over the Detroit Lions last weekend. Journeyman veteran Trent Scott figures to start in his place. Jalen Carter really needs to take advantage of his matchup going up against a backup guard.

The Commanders ruled three players QUESTIONABLE: starting defensive tackle Daron Payne, depth defensive lineman Javontae Jean-Baptiste, and third quarterback Jeff Driskel.

Payne did not practice this week as he’s dealing with both a finger injury and a knee injury. If he can’t play, that’s obviously a big loss for the Commanders’ defensive interior. The guess here is that we do see him suit up, albeit at less than 100%.

Jean-Baptiste was limited in practice all week. He hasn’t played since Week 18.

Driskel missed practice on Thursday and Friday due to illness. If he can’t play, the Commanders could sign Sam Hartman from the practice squad to the roster to have him available as an emergency third quarterback.

Bobby Wagner was upgraded to limited participation on Friday after being DNP on Wednesday and Thursday. The Commanders were managing him to get to Sunday. He’s listed without a game status.

Marshon Lattimore did not practice on Friday due to a rest day. He’s listed without a game status.

Olamide Zaccheaus was upgraded to full participation after being limited on Wednesday and Thursday. He’s listed without a game status.

DT Daron Payne (knee/finger)
