Raiders draft: What if Titans take Travis Hunter at No. 1?

Could that affect the Raiders at No. 6?

The Tennessee Titans own the No. 1 overall draft pick and have been expected to take a quarterback with the pick because of a great need there.

But, that sentiment may have changed. This week, Tennessee president of football operations Chad Brinker said the team will not hesitate to take ”a generational talent” at the pick.

So, that may be a strong hint the Titans aren’t married to the idea of drafting a quarterback despite a pressing need at the position.

It is considered a fairly weak quarterback class and top quarterback choices, Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward of Miami may be stretches at the top pick and neither are considered generational talents.

However, Travis Hunter may be such a prospect. The Heisman Trophy winner from Colorado is a dual threat as a cornerback and as a wide receiver. Penn State pass-rusher Abdul Carter is also considered a special team. But Hunter is likely the more highly rated prospect.

So, if the Titans end up bypassing a quarterback and take Hunter, could take help the Raiders draft Sanders or Ward. They have the No. 6 pick?

Well, it helps but it doesn’t clear a path. The Cleveland Browns have the No. 2 pick and the New York Giants have the No. 3 pick. They are both likely to take quarterbacks, which would still be a problem for Las Vegas.

Now, if the Browns or Giants bypass a quarterback, things could get interesting for the Raiders since the teams picking at No. 4 and No. 5 (New England Patriots and Jacksonville Jaguars) don’t need a quarterback.

But, still, it seems like the Titans not going for a quarterback wouldn’t help the Raiders much
