Two of Nabers’ former LSU teammates are also finalists

Recognition for the fantastic season New York Giants’ rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers had in 2024 continues to accumulate. Nabers has been named one of five finalists for the AP Offensive Rookie of the Year Award.

Other finalists are:

Nabers, Daniels and Thomas were teammates at LSU in 2023.

Giants have won the award twice in the last decade. Wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. won in 2014, followed by running back Saquon Barkley four years later. Hall of Fame linebacker Lawrence Taylor is the only other Giant to win Rookie of the Year, doing so in 1981.

Nabers was recently named to the Pro Football Writers of America All-Rookie Team along with running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. They became the first pair of Giants classmates to make it in the same year since Barkley and guard Will Hernandez in 2018.

Nabers, 21, broke the Giants’ single-season receptions record with 109, two more than Steve Smith’s former mark, set in 2009.

Nabers’ 109 catches are the most by a rookie wide receiver in NFL history, topping the 105 receptions the Rams’ Puka Nacua tallied in 2023. That is the second-highest total among all rookies, trailing only Las Vegas tight end Brock Bowers, who finished with 112 this season.

Nabers finished with 18 more catches than the previous Giants rookie record of 91, shared by Beckham and Barkley.

The winner will be announced Feb. 6 during the NFL Honors ceremony.
