Basham signs reserve/futures deal with Carolina
Boogie Basham has become the second veteran member of the New York Giants 2024 practice squad to find a new team. Basham, an edge defender, has signed a reserve/futures contract with the Carolina Panthers.
Wide receiver Isaiah Hodgins signed a futures contract with the San Francisco 49ers shortly after the conclusion of the 2024 regular season.
A second-round pick by the Buffalo Bills in 2021, Basham has never lived up to that draft position.
After two seasons with the Bills where he registered 4.5 sacks in a part-time role, GM Joe Schoen acquired Basham and a 2025 seventh-round pick in exchange for a 2025 sixth-round pick.
Basham did not make an impact in his two seasons with the Giants. He played only 280 defensive snaps combined over the two seasons, had no sacks, just one quarterback hit, and 20 tackles.
Basham spent most of the 2024 season on the practice squad, and was active for just four games.
