Instead, it will be a collective effort.
Despite a breakout season from Chase Brown, there’s no doubt that the Cincinnati Bengals struggled to field an efficient and consistent rushing attack during most of Frank Pollack’s tenure as o-line coach and run game coordinator.
And recently, new o-line coach Scott Peters revealed on the Bengals Booth podcast that he will not fill both roles, meaning the team won’t have a run game coordinator. Rather, the Bengals’ offensive coaches will work on the run game together.
This actually shouldn’t be a huge surprise. As John Sheeran of A to Z Sports pointed out, last year was the first time that Zac Taylor even had a pass game coordinator and run game coordinator.
“It may’ve been the first time in franchise history both of those positions were a part of the staff as a whole,” Sheeran added.
Not only that, but the run game has been a serious issue. So, being open to as many solutions and ideas as possible seems smart.
Meanwhile, as Sheeran also noted, pass game coordinator Justin Riscatti has nothing to worry about, as the passing attack soared like never before.
