Anarumo find his new home.
The Cincinnati Bengals are closing in on hiring their next defensive coordinator, while the last guy to hold that spot has seemingly found his next job.
According to NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport, the Indianapolis Colts are set to hire Lou Anarumo as the team’s next defensive coordinator.
Anarumo was also in discussions to join the Chicago Bears as their next defensive coordinator under new head coach Ben Johnson, who had just been hired from the Detroit Lions. However, that spot is going to former New Orleans Saints head coach Dennis Allen, according to The Athletic reporter Diana Russini.
Anarumo will land with a Colts team that’s narrowly missed the playoffs the last two seasons, in large part because of their defensive woes. It’s a good spot to be in, as the AFC South is significantly weaker than the AFC North. If Anarumo can turn that defense around, the Colts will be a strong playoff contender next year and likely be in the hunt to win the division.
Here’s to hoping Anarumo shines in Indy when he’s not playing the Bengals.
