Early mock drafts look pretty much the way you would expect them to
It’s New York Giants 2025 mock draft tracker time! As we have done for the past few draft cycles, each week we will track what mock drafters think the New York Giants will do in the 2025 NFL Draft.
In our initial tracker, Colorado cornerback/wide receiver Travis Hunter, the Heisman Trophy winner, is the player most often selected. He was the choice in seven (35%) of the 20 mock drafts used this week. Hunter not only won the Heisman, but he earned the Fred Biletnikoff Award as the best offensive player in the country and the Chuck Bednarik Award as the best defensive player.
Quarterback was, of course, a popular choice for the Giants. Eleven (55%) of the 20 mock drafts have the Giants selecting a quarterback. Six (30%) have the Giants selecting Miami’s Cam Ward, two of those via trade up with the Tennessee Titans. Five (25%) have the Giants selecting Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders.
‘Sprint up to the podium’ for Sanders?
Scott Procter, who covers Colorado football for theDNVR.com, was my guest on Friday’s ‘Valentine’s Views’ podcast. That is what he said he would do given a choice at No. 3 between Sanders and Hunter.
Procter called Sanders “as accurate a thrower of the football as I’ve ever seen with my own two eyes.”
What about Hunter?
“If you take Travis Hunter you are getting the best player in the draft,” Procter said.
