Multiple Miami Dolphins set single-season team records in 2024

While the Dolphins fell short of expectations in 2024, numerous players achieved great personal accomplishments.

The 2024 Miami Dolphins season didn’t go quite as the team, nor the fans would have hoped. Miami missed the NFL Playoffs for the first time since Mike McDaniel took over as head coach ahead of the 2022 NFL season. The Dolphins also had a losing record for the first time since they went 5-11 in 2019.

But not everything was bad for Miami in 2024 — especially when considering individual accomplishments.

Multiple Miami Dolphins set single-season team records this past year — rewriting the record books for the storied South Florida franchise.

First, Miami’s highly paid franchise quarterback Tua Tagovailoa set Miami’s single season record for completion percentage — completing an NFL high 72.9% of his passes in 2024. He broke his own team record of 69.3% which was set just one year ago in 2023.

Next, Miami’s electric second-year running back De’Von Achane set multiple receiving records for a running back — becoming the franchise leader in receptions for a single-season by a tailback (78, tops for any RB in the NFL in 2024), while also bringing in the most receiving touchdowns by a running back for a single season in Dolphins history (6, tied for most by any RB in the NFL in 2024).

Tight end Jonnu Smith had a highly productive season for the Dolphins in 2024 — setting the single-season records for receptions by a tight end (88), receiving yards by a tight end (884) and receiving touchdowns by a tight end (8).

Zach Sieler tied his franchise record for sacks in a single season by a defensive tackle — matching his mark set in 2023 with 10 sacks on the year.

Lastly, kicker Jason Sanders had himself a phenomenal year — setting the Dolphins single-season record for consecutive field goals made (27) while also nailing the most field goals from 50+ yards any Miami kicker has ever made in a single season with 12 such boots.

While records are nice, wins — primarily playoff wins — are even better. Let’s hope the Dolphins can continue to rewrite the record books in 2025 while also earning enough victories to make the postseason and claiming their first playoff victory since they defeated Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts on December 30th, 2000.
