Pro Football Focus thinks so
Pro Football Focus recently released their list of ideal 2025 NFL Draft prospects for all 32 teams, and their pick for the New York Giants is Colorado standout Travis Hunter. It’s an intriguing choice, but does it really align with the Giants’ needs and current trajectory?
Hunter’s dual-threat ability as both a cornerback and receiver is undeniable. Heisman Trophy winners are no strangers to the NFL spotlight, and Hunter’s five interceptions and stellar 21.3% forced incompletion percentage have certainly earned him the title of top cornerback in this year’s draft class. The Giants’ have glaring issues in coverage — which allowed opposing quarterbacks a 113.3 passer rating — making Hunter an enticing prospect to address those defensive woes.
However, there’s more to the story. With the Giants sitting at No. 3 overall, owner John Mara’s recent comments about his waning patience with the franchise’s progress suggest the team could explore a quarterback in free agency or even trade scenarios. If the team resolves their quarterback situation before draft night, selecting a playmaker like Hunter could be a game-changer on both sides of the ball.
The idea of Hunter pulling double duty in the NFL as both a shutdown corner and a situational receiver is tantalizing, especially alongside Giants rookie standout Malik Nabers. But the Giants have other pressing needs — offensive and defensive line depth, the defensive backfield, and much more.
The bottom line? Hunter is the type of player who could elevate a defense overnight and provide a spark on offense, perhaps as specific packages. If the Giants are confident in their quarterback direction, or can’t get the quarterback they want at the top of the draft, Hunter might just be the perfect choice.
What’s your take, Giants fans? Is Travis Hunter worth the pick at No. 3, or should the team look elsewhere?
