Bills vs. Ravens: 5 storylines to watch for in Divisional round
The Buffalo Bills will roll on in the NFL postseason.
Following their win over the Denver Broncos, the Bills (13-4) will take on the Baltimore Ravens (12-5) at Highmark Stadium in the Divisional round.
But before we even get to kickoff, there will be a lot of Bills-related discussions and conversations to be had throughout the coming days.
Here are five storylines to watch for during the lead up to Bills vs. Ravens:
MVP battle
USAT
The team game here is all about a spot in the AFC Championship. Most believe that will involve that Kansas City Chiefs as well, but the Houston Texans will have something to say about that.
Let’s be honest. The reason the Bills and Ravens were put in the coveted “Sunday Night Football” time slot in the Divisional round? It’s all about quarterbacks Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson, the two favorites for the 2024 NFL MVP Award. Both teams in Buffalo and Baltimore will be asked about the QB they’re slated to face this upcoming weekend.
Earlier this season

Unlike their contest against the Broncos, the Bills will be facing a team they’ve already taken on this season. Despite winning 13 of their 17 outings, the Bills will host a team they lost to this year. The Ravens took a convincing 35-10 final in Week 4 and that’s going to be something players in Buffalo are asked about all week.
Back in 2020

And speaking of past contests, the last time the Bills and Ravens clashed in the postseason was in 2020. That 17-3 win was also in the Divisional round and was highlighted by cornerback Taron Johnson’s pick-six interception on Jackson. That win really made the Bills feel like they had “arrived” amongst the NFL’s elite.
Dealing with ‘The King’

While Jackson is going to be the one with a lot of eyes on him, the ground game for the Ravens offense is excellent as a whole. In that earlier defeat, the Bills got off to a poor start leading to their defeat. Buffalo could not stop Derrick Henry. “The King” has had some excellent games against the Bills and that can’t happen again.
Along with 199 rushing yards and a touchdown in Week 4, Henry’s resume against Buffalo is very solid. He averages 93 yards per outing against the Bills and has nine total touchdowns against them.
But what’s worth note in a big way: Henry is still only 3-3 against the Bills in his career.
A welcome home

And in an effort to end this on a lighter note: Tre’Davious White returns to Orchard Park.
The former beloved member of the Bills was supposed to have a reunion with his former team with the Los Angeles Rams earlier this year but was released and ended up in Baltimore. White is struggling in his return from injury and is only playing a minor role, but Buffalo will probably give him a warm welcome home.
