Poll shows fans overwhelmingly rejecting this idea
When the Dallas Cowboys and former head coach Mike McCarthy decided to part ways on Monday after five good but not enough seasons together, there were some who right away wanted to speculate about McCarthy to the New York Giants.
New York Daily News Giants reporter Pat Leonard fanned the flames with this:
The #Cowboys moving on from Mike McCarthy, I would think, means they believe they can/will get Ben Johnson — unless they’re eyeing an established coach via trade
Also, I know the #Giants want to run it back and all, but they should call Mike McCarthy

New Jersey Advance Media also joined the speculation.
Giants fans are having none of it.
We put the ‘Should McCarthy replace Brian Daboll?’ question to Giants fans on the Big Blue View Instagram page. The result? A resounding “No, thanks!”
Eighty-nine percent of those who voted would rather see Daboll (18-32-1, .363) remain as head coach than replace him with McCarthy.
That despite McCarthy being 49-35 (.583) in Dallas and 174-112-2 in 18 seasons combined with the Cowboys and Green Bay Packers, while guiding teams to the playoffs 12 times and winning the 2010 Super Bowl with Green Bay.
The Giants announced last week that both Daboll and GM Joe Schoen would return despite the Giants having gone 9-25 over the past two seasons.
