Eagles Rookie Report Card: Quinyon Mitchell nabs his first career interception

Eagles Rookie Report Card: Quinyon Mitchell nabs his first career interception

Weekly check in on Philadelphia’s 2024 NFL Draft class.

The Eagles are advancing to the Divisional Round of the 2025 NFL playoffs after handling the Green Bay Packers at home. While the offense looked inept through a significant portion of the afternoon, the Eagles defense thrived while getting some good play from their rookies.

Quinyon Mitchell: A

It happened, Quinyon Mitchell pulled down his first career interception. On an underthrown deep ball, Mitchell tracked it deep and caught it in the end zone, all but salting away Green Bay’s chances of coming back into the game. He only allowed two catches on the day, marking yet another dominant performance for the rookie cornerback. Mitchell had some rough play to end the regular season, so his bounce-back is more than welcome in the playoffs.

Cooper DeJean: D

Cooper DeJean had maybe the roughest day of his young career. He was bullied in the run game by the Packers, missing tackles and getting blown up by Green Bay’s OL. He was targeted early and often in the passing game. Targeting DeJean is really the only way the Packers found success through the air yesterday. It isn’t some huge red flag going forward. DeJean fell victim a bit to Green Bay’s need to target the intermediate areas of the field due to their boundary receivers getting hurt. He could have responded a lot better though.

Jalyx Hunt: B

Jalyx Hunt played solid football when he got onto the field. Once again, he did his best work against the run which is a bit of a surprise given his size. The Eagles will continue to need consistent, reliable play from him through the next few weeks.

The Rest

  • Johnny Wilson logged six snaps on offense but didn’t see the ball in the passing game.
  • With Nakobe Dean hurt, the Eagles opted to send in Oren Burks instead of Jeremiah Trotter Junior. Trotter has been playing really good football in limited snaps this year, but there’s logic to the team wanting a veteran out there during the playoffs.
