Are the Bengals losing one of their own to the lowly Jets?
The Cincinnati Bengals not only fired their long-time defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo, as well as a handful of position coaches, but it’s possible they could lose one of their key executives as well.
According to the New York Jets on X (formerly Twitter), they interviewed Bengals senior personnel executive Trey Brown for their open general manager job.
Brown started his career in the NFL as a scouting assistant with the New England Patriots in 2010. He joined the Philadelphia Eagles in 2013 and became their director of college scouting. He left the NFL for a short stint in the AAF and then the XFL, where he served as a VP of football operations or director of player personnel. He then was hired by the Bengals in 2021 as a scout.
In 2022, he was promoted to senior personnel executive. Since then, he’s been a major part of the Bengals’ front office while working directly with Duke Tobin.
The Jets fired former GM Woody Johnson six weeks after they did the same to Robert Saleh, because their disaster of a season couldn’t have had anything to do with Aaron Rodgers. If they decide to hire Brown, he’ll be tasked with trying to figure out how to pick up the pieces.
