What’s next for the fired Raiders’ coach?

Now, that he has been fired as the head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders, what’s the next coaching move for Antonio Pierce?

It will be interesting to watch.

It would be a major surprise if Pierce becomes a serious candidate for any of the other five jobs that are currently open in the league.

Pierce, 46, went 9-17 as the Raiders coach and he made many mistakes in his role. So, he will probably be earmarked to be an assistant coach somewhere around the league.

Pierce was extremely inexperienced when he became the Raiders’ interim coach in 2023. The former NFL linebacker was just in his second season as an NFL coach as the Raiders’ linebackers coach.

So, there is no sure thing Pierce would even be a strong candidate to be a defensive coordinator in the league.

His best bet may be to join as a staff as a consultant or a general defensive coach. Pierce would be facing a suspension if he were to be hired by a college team based on him being called the ringleader of recruiting violation while at Arizona State.

So, watch for Pierce to remain in the NFL as he tries to rebuild his coaching career.
