Terrion Arnold injury update: More good news for Lions rookie CB

Lions rookie CB Terrion Arnold is considered “day-to-day” with a foot contusion.

The good news regarding the injury to Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold continues to come in. The latest news comes from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, who is reporting Arnold’s injury is a “foot contusion” and he is considered day-to-day.

Arnold suffered an injury in the second half of the Lions’ 31-9 victory over the Minnesota Vikings. At the time, the injury looked very serious, as Arnold could not put any weight on that foot and had to be carted off the field. However, after the game, Arnold was seen walking around in a boot and moving pretty comfortably. He was also in good spirits, although the Lions had just won the NFC North at the conference’s top seed, so there was plenty of reason to be happy.

Coach Dan Campbell noted after the game that Arnold had avoided a broken bone.

“The x-rays were negative, but that doesn’t mean…he was pretty tender,” Campbell said.

The Lions earned a bye week for the first round of the playoffs, which would give Arnold two weeks to heal up before Detroit’s Divisional Round playoff game.

With Arnold out for the remainder of the game, it was veteran Kindle Vildor who took his spot in the lineup opposite Amik Robertson. Detroit was already shorthanded at cornerback, with Carlton Davis (broken jaw, IR), Ennis Rakestraw Jr. (hamstring, IR), and Emmanuel Moseley (illness, NFI) out for the foreseeable future. The only other currently-healthy cornerback is practice squad defender Stantley Thomas-Oliver, who was signed to the team just a few weeks ago.

Campbell is expected to talk to the media later on Tuesday, and he could provide more injury updates on Arnold and other Lions players.
