Los Angeles Rams News and Links for 1/7/25

The Los Angeles Rams at the time of this writing have history in their favor on Monday night playoff games as they look to host the Minnesota Vikings this coming Monday. Sean McVay and the Rams hosted a Monday night playoff game against the Arizona Cardinals during the ‘21 season, and L.A. then went on to win the Super Bowl. The Rams haven’t won a playoff game since that same Super Bowl run.

Of course, even if L.A. loses it’s been a remarkable season for a team who started 1-4 and then finished at 10-7 while winning the NFC West. Do fans and the team want more? Sure, they do. Will the team and fans be disappointed with another playoff loss? No doubt, but that doesn’t mean it hasn’t been a great ride.

Rams’ Playoff Scenarios: Monday Night Football Awaits LA (profootballnetwork)

“The Los Angeles Rams were left for dead after a 1-4 start that saw an injury-riddled offense and inexperienced defense struggle. But since October, the Rams have quietly been one of the best teams in the NFL, notching impressive wins over Super Bowl contenders like the Buffalo Bills and Minnesota Vikings.

All that led to the Rams clinching the NFC West for the first time since 2021 after a dramatic Week 17 win over the Arizona Cardinals. Then, on Sunday, the Rams finalized their seed and now know who their opponent will be on Wild Card Weekend.”

Sean McVay shares his initial thoughts on the Vikings and what makes them an ‘excellent team’ (theramswire)

“Excellent team. You look at it, 14-3. Obviously, we’re very familiar with their coaching staff,” McVay said. “The respect, the admiration, and what a great job Kevin [O’Connell], Wes [Phillips], Chris O’Hara, and Thad Bogardus did when they were here. Defensively, they’ve been excellent. They pose a lot of different problems. Offensively, Kevin does an excellent job of accentuating guy’s skill sets. Obviously, Sam [Darnold] has had a great year. It’s cool to see Cam Akers do his thing and make some plays for them over the last few weeks. Aaron Jones is dangerous. Their receivers are obviously well-documented. Justin Jefferson is as unique as it gets. They move him around and do a great job of putting him in a variety of spots. I think Jordan Addison is an excellent football player that…you see, he’s a number one receiver on other teams. You’ve seen [Jalen] Nailor make a bunch of plays and getting [T.J.] Hockenson back has been big for them with the different things that he can provide, not exclusive to just the pass game. It’s a great challenge. They’re really good on [special] teams. Obviously, Matt Daniels is their coordinator who was here with us. It’s going to be a great challenge, but it’s NFL playoff football so we’re excited about it and we’re diving into that preparation as we speak.”

Los Angeles Rams 2025 opponents: Every home and away game next season (ramblinfan)

“The regular season has concluded for the Los Angeles Rams but fortunately, the Rams will continue to play on in the postseason. Even with the 2024 season not wrapped up yet, Rams fans still might be curious about who the team has on the schedule for the 2025 season.

While we don’t know when the Rams will play their 2025 opponents, we at least know who will be on the schedule. The schedule consists of the Rams playing one home game and one away game against the other three teams in the NFC West. They’ll also play the entire AFC South and NFC South divisions.”
