Heading into Week 18, the Las Vegas Raiders were riding on a high with wins in back-to-back games for the first time this season. However, Sunday’s matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers provided a harsh reality check for the Silver and Black.

While wins are hard to come by in the NFL, the Raiders defeating backup quarterback-led teams in the Jacksonville Jaguars and New Orleans Saints gave the organization some false hope. It got to a point where the victories reportedly could have saved head coach Antonio Pierce’s job.

However, during the season finale, Las Vegas finally saw a formidable opponent in Los Angeles and found out just how far off it was from being a playoff contender.

The Raiders faced a starting quarterback for the first time in two weeks and Justin Herbert picked their defense apart, going 28/36 with 346 yards and two touchdowns. That led to another two-possession defeat and the contest wasn’t even that close.

The Chargers punted on their opening drive and missed a field goal on the next one before proceeding to score the next seven times they touched the ball, leading to LA dominating the time-of-possession battle by over a quarter (38:58 to 21:02). A garbage-time touchdown from Aidan O’Connell and Brock Bowers was the only thing that helped make the scoreboard look better for Las Vegas.

That led to Pierce getting asked if he feels like he deserves to be the Raiders’ head coach moving forward, and AP’s answer kicks off this week’s roundup from X/Twitter.

According to The Athletic’s Vic Tafur, we will soon know about Pierce’s job security.

It’s been rough…

You know it’s bad when Quentin Johnson has a career game, a tough one for Decamerion Richardson.

Highlight of the day, Jakobi Meyers eclipsed 1,000 yards for the first time in his career.

Raiders are picking sixth in the draft, who should they take?
