The Cowboys couldn’t help but win, and the Giants are sticking with their GM and head coach.
The Eagles and Commanders are the only teams representing the NFC East heading into the playoffs, and the Giants and Cowboys are extending their dumpster fire into the offseason.
The Cowboys were eliminated from the postseason weeks ago, but head coach Mike McCarthy said they weren’t tanking, and were still taking the field each week to win. They may not have won their season finale, but they did win enough to lose their Top 10 draft pick. With the regular season complete, Dallas will officially pick at No. 12 overall thanks to a few late-season victories against the Panthers and Bucs.
The Giants were in a bit of a similar situation, and couldn’t get out of their own way. Their season went off the rails very early, but despite having the best chance to land the overall No. 1 pick in the draft, they beat up on the Colts in Week 17 and ended up dropping to No. 3.
Who will be making that pick was starting to be discussed with early reports suggesting the organization wanted some time to evaluate GM Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll, and their roles moving forward. That evaluation period was short-lived, because John Mara released a statement on Monday morning committing to Schoen and Daboll for the future — this despite one of those guys trying to (repeatedly) defend not re-signing Saquon Barkley.

The offseason is just starting for the Cowboys and Giants, but it already looks like it’ll be an interesting one.
