How are you feeling about this matchup?
Three priorities for the Philadelphia Eagles’ regular season finale against the New York Giants, in order:
- Avoid injuries. The Eagles obviously won’t be playing their starters but it’s not like the preseason where literally every key player can rest. There will be some important backups/role players playing, so, you don’t want to see them get hurt.
- Young guys play well. Most notably including second-year quarterback Tanner McKee, who looked awesome in a small sample size in Week 17. If the Eagles are looking good in this game because potential long-term contributors or future trade candidates are looking good, so be it.
- Lose the game. I think it would be pretty funny if the Giants went through such a miserable season only to end up with a first-round pick that falls out of the top five in the 2025 NFL Draft order. And possibly as low as No. 9!
The Giants are so bad that I can’t rule out the Eagles’ backups beating them. Plus, McKee might actually be pretty good?! But his supporting cast will be limited and the Giants’ coaching staff has motivation to pick up a win here as they try to avoid being fired.
