2025 Pro Bowl rosters announced: Dolphins snubbed

The NFL announced the rosters for the 2025 Pro Bowl Games, and there was a notable name missing. After six players were listed on the AFC roster last year, the Miami Dolphins did not show up anywhere. The entire Dolphins roster did not have a player make it to the all-star game.

No tight end Jonnu Smith. No defensive tackle Calais Campbell. No defensive tackle Zach Sieler. No fullback Alec Ingold. No tackle Terron Armstead. No cornerback Jalen Ramsey. No wide receiver Tyreek Hill. No quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. No Miami Dolphins at all.

The entire Dolphins name was snubbed.

The team could still end up with players at the Pro Bowl Games when they begin January 30, 2025, in Orlando, Florida, as alternates are named for players who are injured or from teams who advance into the Super Bowl.

Former Dolphins players who were named to the game include Pittsburgh Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, Houston Texans tackle Laremy Tunsil, and Minnesota Vikings linebacker Andrew Van Ginkel.

Several Miami players probably should have been named to the game, but Smith may be the biggest snub of the year. He is having the best year of his eight-year career, recording 79 receptions for 828 yards with seven touchdowns, resetting Dolphins tight end receiving records. His 79 receptions are 18th in the league and fourth among tight ends; he is also fourth in receiving yards among tight ends and third in touchdowns for the position.

Kevin Patra from NFL.com included Smith as one of the top snubs in the league, writing, “Unfortunately for Smith, Brock Bowers put up a historic season, and Travis Kelce is, well, Travis Kelce. However, the Dolphins’ tight end put up Pro Bowl-worthy numbers in his own right, ranking fourth among NFL TEs in receiving yards (828) and tying for third in receiving TDs (seven). Smith grew into a key cog in Miami’s offense, providing an outlet and run-after-catch ability that was previously missing from his spot on the field.”

Hill, who is admittedly having a down year compared to his normal production levels, will miss the Pro Bowl for the first time in his nine-year career.

Campbell and Sieler have been forces in the middle of the Dolphins defensive line all season and have cases to be made for representing the team in Orlando.

The 2024 Pro Bowl games included Tagovailoa, Ingold, Hill, Armstead, Ramsey, and running back Raheem Mostert from Miami. We will have to wait until the alternates are named for this year’s game to see if anyone will represent the Dolphins in 2025.
