The Minnesota Vikings defeated the Green Bay Packers 27-25. The Vikings played a very clean game with exception for the kicking game, so it’s hard to nitpick.
Dan Campbell
The Detroit Lions Head Coach has done a tremendous job with that team. They were the laughing stock for the majority of the history of the NFL. However, there is a fine line between being aggressive and being stupid. The Lions are missing half their starters already due to injury. It’s Week 17 and his team could really use some rest before Week 18. It looks like they mostly go through the game without any additional major injuries, but it was a risk with a very modest reward. They keep their momentum, but will head into the game tired. If they lose to the Vikings, they will go into the Wild Card even more exhausted.
Will Reichard
Reichard has been on the Player of the Week list several times this year. He has one job and he didn’t do it that well this week. The 57 yarder was a long kick, but something he could have made. Not the nincompoop there, but he then missed the 43 yard field goal. That FG nearly cost the Vikings the game.
Matt LaFleur
There seems to be a disconnect sometimes with LaFleur and his team. He just doesn’t seem to have a good feel for it. They had a 3rd and 5 with a minute and a half left in the 2nd quarter. LaFleur called a low percentage deep ball to Bo Melton. Normally they’d have Christian Watson there and it would still be a questionable call. The Packers needed to score there as the Vikings were getting the ball first in the second half. The not going for it a few years back in the playoffs with Aaron Rodgers always comes to mind too. He makes the wrong decision every game.
