NY Giants: When a much-needed win feels like a loss for their future | The Record
Yes, they need a franchise QB. Yes, they made it tougher on themselves by winning today. But they can still get in position to draft the right QB.
Giants co-owners John Mara and Steve Tisch have to know this; if they don’t, listen to the head coach who they may or may not be replacing when his third season ends in a week’s time. They shouldn’t say good-bye to Brian Daboll, but this organizational failure for the past decade will require yet another brutally honest look at where the Giants are, where they have been before Daboll and Schoen got here, and where they are going now.
Brian Daboll: Good to see smiling faces in the locker room
“I’m happy for the players and coaches. It’s a tough season. It’s good to see results, it’s good to see smiles on their faces.”

NFL Week 17: Biggest questions, takeaways for every game | ESPN.com
The Giants had three 30-plus-yard touchdown passes. They had four in the first 15 games entering Sunday. Rookie Malik Nabers had touchdown catches of 31 and 59 yards and Darius Slayton had a 32-yard score. It was the first time a Giants quarterback threw three such touchdown passes since Phil Simms did it in 1980.
Giants face decision on Kayvon Thibodeaux this offseason | New York Post
Thibodeaux, 23, is eligible for a contract extension, but that is unlikely to happen, as he will not be coming off a strong season from a production standpoint — he had 11.5 sacks in 2023. The Giants must decide this spring if they want to exercise the fifth-year option on Thibodeaux, which would guarantee him an estimated $16 million for the 2026 season.

Russini’s what I’m hearing: Vikings want Darnold back in 2025, Watson’s new deal, Brady’s big role | The Athletic
A source close to Mara said earlier this week that the owner plans on sticking to his word, but he will still sit down with both Schoen and Daboll after the season to figure out what went wrong in 2024…Around the league, there’s growing chatter that the Giants might move on from Daboll while Schoen continues to operate like he’ll still be around for 2025. Though I’m told that while there’s a lot of speculation right now, no decision has been made.
One thing that’s become clear from those close to the situation: Schoen and Daboll are not seen as a package deal. Though they arrived from Buffalo together and have contracts that align, ownership is evaluating them separately.
Giants Draft Targets Cam Ward, Shedeur Sanders Have Mixed Performances in Bowl Games | SI.com
In a closely etched out 42-41 loss to Iowa State in that bowl contest, Ward was electric in the one half of football he played in. He completed 12 of his 19 passes for 190 yards but found the end zone thrice to put his squad up 31-28 going into the halftime break. Ward flashed many key traits that have made him stand out from the pack in the 2025 prospect pool, including his arm strength and some craftiness with pressure entering the pocket.
In a 36-14 blowout loss to BYU, Sanders finished 16 of 23 throwing for 208 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions. The positive elements did not come until much later, with the game out of hand.
Darius Slayton: Players do not tank
Darius Slayton is asked about the Giants winning today and how he feels about fans that would prefer they lost for draft positioning:
“We’re obviously not tanking. We have a job to do.

Saquon Barkley hits 2,000 rushing yards, sets new Eagles’ yards from scrimmage record | Bleeding Green Nation
With just over 10 minutes left in the game — with the Eagles up 34-7 — Barkley hit 167 rushing yards and was promptly pulled to preserve his legs for another week.
Barkley is now just the ninth running back in NFL history to top 2,000 rushing yards in a single season, joining: Eric Dickerson, Adrian Peterson, Jamal Lewis, Barry Sanders, Derrick Henry, Terrell Davis, Chris Johnson, O.J. Simpson.
Eagles’ Kenny Pickett exits with ribs injury vs. Cowboys; Tanner McKee enters at QB | The Athletic
Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Kenny Pickett left Sunday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys in the third quarter with a ribs injury. Tanner McKee replaced Pickett. Pickett took a hard hit from Cowboys defender Micah Parsons after throwing a negated touchdown pass to receiver A.J. Brown. McKee led the Eagles on a touchdown drive in his first full series with a scoring throw to Brown.
