If the Commanders beat the Falcons, the Rams win the NFC West

If the Washington Commanders beat the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday night, the Los Angeles Rams will win the NFC West and make the playoffs as the 3-seed regardless of what happens in their last game against the Seattle Seahawks or anything else this season. If the Commanders win, the Rams win and can/will rest all of their starters against the Seahawks in Week 18, setting up a probable showdown against those same Commanders in the wild card round.

The Rams needed four certain teams to win on Sunday to have a chance to clinch the title today. So far, three of them have and the Commanders are the last hanging chad.

If the Commanders win, they will improve to 11-5 and overtake Green Bay for the six seed after the Packers lost to the Vikings in Week 17. That would setup a potential match between the Rams and the team that helped them clinch the NFC West.

If the Falcons win on Sunday night, the Rams can still clinch the division if the 49ers beat the Lions on Monday. But the Rams will still win the NFC West either way; the Seahawks need 12 teams out of 12 to win games in order to have the strength of victory tiebreaker.

The division title is only a matter of time. Will that time be tonight?
