Wagers to consider as you fill out your tickets
Welcome to the New York Giants betting angle, Week 17 edition! Each week, I’m giving you my three favorite wagers for that week’s New York Giants game. My one rule: I won’t ever give you wagers that are less than -120. No slam-dunks here!
It’s been a depressing season for Big Blue. OK, that might be the understatement of the year. The 2-13 Giants have the worst record in the NFL, haven’t won a game since the first week in October, and over the last two weeks they’ve been outscored 69-21. Last week’s 34-7 blowout loss to Atlanta featured not one, but two pick-sixes thrown by Drew Lock, who nonetheless is set to start again on Sunday. Big Blue has gotten blown out multiple times this season, and they bring two inglorious streaks into Sunday’s home finale against the Colts: A 10-game losing streak and an 0-8 record at home in this, their 100th season. Good times! To those of you heading over to MetLife Stadium in drizzly weather for this last home game of the season, know that you are true heroes.
The Colts are coming in on a high, after they shellacked the Titans 38-30 on Sunday. The final score makes the game look much closer than it was. Jonathan Taylor ran wild, piling up 218 yards on 29 carries with three rushing touchdowns. He has to be licking his chops this week, as the Giants have allowed the third most rushing yards to opposing RBs on the season, and 12 rushing scores to the position. And it’s a game that matters for the 7-8 Colts, as they’re still in the hunt for the AFC’s last Wild Card spot. They’ll need to win this week and next, and get help, so they can ill-afford a stumble against the NFL’s worst team.
The line for the game is Colts -7.5, with a game total of 40.5.
A bad season doesn’t mean it can’t be good for gambling. I came within one half of a Malik Nabers receiving yard of my fifth straight winning week. Still, I’m 10-5 over the last five weeks and hope to finish strong this week and next.
Let’s get to the picks. All lines and odds are from Fanduel and are as of Saturday at 9 a.m., December 28. Note: FanDuel has no passing, rushing, or receiving prop bets posted for the Colts this week. I have no idea why that is, but it limited my selections.

1. Three-leg Parlay: Colts to win first half, Colts to win game, Jonathan Taylor anytime TD (+131). I’ve avoided the complexity and infinite possibilities of parlays so far for this column, but it’s the holiday season, so let’s have some fun. I think the Giants are done being competitive, so I feel very good about the Colts leading at the half and winning the game. But you can’t get any value with that, nor can you get any with a Taylor anytime TD. Throw them together and there’s positive money. Normally I’d avoid this type of three-leg bet at these odds, but I’m in.
2. Wan’Dale Robinson OVER 4.5 receptions (-120). Robinson has seen a whopping 32 targets over his last three games. Unfortunately, that has only translated to 15 catches. This should be another game where NY is trailing most of the way, and with Malik Nabers (toe) likely to play but at less than 100%, I think Robinson will again get a lot of looks. Hopefully, there will be greater efficiency with those targets. The Colts’ pass defense is mediocre at best.
3. Drew Lock OVER 17.5 rushing yards (-113). Lock only ran for one yard in the blowout loss to Atlanta, but he cleared 50 yards in his prior two starts. The Colts are allowing an average of just over 20 rushing yards per game to opposing QBs, but they haven’t faced any of the top rushing QBs other than Josh Allen. I think Lock will make a couple of plays with his legs this week.
Those are the picks for Week 17. Good luck with your wagers!
