Starter Anthony Richardson won’t play
Maybe this will be a break for the New York Giants, maybe it won’t. The Indianapolis Colts announced on Saturday that starting quarterback Anthony Richardson will miss Sunday’s game against the Giants with back and foot injuries, and that veteran Joe Flacco will get the start.
Richardson did not practice all week, but was listed as questionable on Friday.
In his second NFL season, Richardson has been inconsistent for Indianapolis. In 11 starts, Richardson (126 of 264) has completed just 47.7% of his passes, making him the only starting quarterback in the league completing below 60%.
Richardson has thrown 12 interceptions to only eight touchdown passes. Richardson’s 499 rushing yards are sixth in the NFL among quarterbacks.
The 39-year-old Flacco, in his 17th NFL season, has played in six games with four starts. He has completed 113 of 170 passes (66.5%) with nine touchdown passes and five interceptions.
The 2-13 Giants are seeking to avoid an 11th straight loss and an 0-9 record at home.
