Chase is having a career-best year but would turn down being on the cover of Madden.
Ja’Marr Chase is having a career year in 2024, despite the Cincinnati Bengals’ on-field struggles.
With two games remaining, both of which the Bengals must keep their foot on the gas as they try to make the NFL Playoffs, Chase leads the league in receiving yards, receptions, and receiving touchdowns.
He’s on pace to have the triple crown if these leads hold. That would make Chase a good candidate for the Madden cover the following year, but he doesn’t want that type of attention anytime soon.
“No. I don’t want that. I’m saying no. I’m good,” Chase said this week.
When he was asked about the “Madden Curse,” which has haunted many of the best in the history of the game, Chase continued to be short and sweet.
“No comment, but I’m not doing that. I’m good,” Chase said.
It seems clear: Chase doesn’t want to be on the Madden cover. That is an absolute certainty from this conversation.
However, as he’s expected to be an All-Pro and has already eclipsed career-best numbers across the board, Chase may get asked at the very least. Burrow, who’s having an NFL MVP-caliber season, might also be on that short list of candidates.
